03-30-2009, 03:33 PM
ok so me and my brother who is 1,5 yrs younger than me started bboying at the same time, its been 6 months now and i feel like a total shit next to him, he does good tutrle, almost windmill and nice air freezes and some shit and more varieted footwork than me but what got me down was when we showed our skills to our friend the friend was amazed by my brothers moves but laughed at mine. So i feel like quitting now. I can post video of me dancing if you guys want. Tell me if im good or not.

I have a brother that's younger and better than me. We are kind of like rivals and it's cool. Something like you see in a movie lol.
I practice twice as much as him so I have some things that he doesn't and hopefully I'll surpass him totally soon. |

Ya, haha same! my little brother is 3 years younger than me and started dancing about a year after me and he has all sorts of stuff I don't have, he's like next level compared to me. sometimes its really really discouraging but you have just got to use it to your advantage, make it an inspirations to practice twice as hard and twice as much. like NiSenNen said he practices twice as much so that he can have something and hopefully surpass him. and even though it can suck if you look at it in one light you have someone to practice with all the time that you can totally mess with and have fun with.

You don't need to prove anything to anyone. Hes probably just better than you because he practices more frequently than you.

listen there should be no competition between u and ur brother. my brother b-boys im 13 he's 20 and we treat each other with respect as b-boys whether were battling or just as b-boys. u and ur brother should find a common ground and he can teach u sum moves, it sounds embarrising but it's 4 the best

I think you need to just be concerned with your own dancing. Don't worry about your bro or any other dancer, for that matter. You concentrate on your footwork, your power, your freezes. As long as you are expressing yourself through your dancing and you work hard to be clean and original, that is really what matters. Not, "Oh man my little bro has ____ down and I don't.
((" There's always gonna be competition between siblings to some degree, just make sure (esp since you are older) that you don't let it create some stupid division between the two of you, instead use it as fuel to push you harder at practice. Not necessarily so you can "be better than him," but just to be BETTER in GENERAL. You know? Like watching vids on youtube or something and you see some really dope stuff and you get inspired to go work out and make up some of your own. And don't be too big to learn from the little guy or help him out, either. In this life, you reap what you sow, and if you sow a bunch of pride and arrogance and bitterness against your bro (or someone else), you're only gonna get it back. Someone is always gonna have something you don't (and vice versa!), so don't get butt hurt over it, just be the best at what YOU do. |

just practice more then pass him. Have him help you out and then throw in your own style and pass him. But you shouldn't quit man you'll get better or at least match up to him soon.
Although you can always take the easy way out and injure him >: D and blame it on the reason of "playing" with each other So uhh...yea |

just cos your older doesn't mean that you'll be better.
rivalry always makes ya improve faster, so it's probably a good thing |
