Am I? "too old 4 this shit"(serious question) - 03-28-2009, 06:55 PM

I'm 34 going on 35,Am I too old too be a born again bbouy,I've been out the scene for years but have always considered myself a bboy and its the cultural identity I'd choose having always kept up with Hip Hop freestyle dancing as a hobby even if it is only a way of de-stressing back at my flat (I need too get out more) this has kept me fit and when I got on-line a few years ago I hadn't realised how much the scene had evolved but I downloaded some competitions online and bought a DVD "How To Breakdance Step By Step" the one advertised on here (Wicked) this has inspired me and after illness and a relationship break up I've found myself at a loose end with time on my hands, I know the basic moves and I've invested in fitness equipment and looked into things like isometrics and stretching and building strength for gymnastics remaining fairly supple, my interest has helped me through my illness and I'm ready to have ago again with most of my freinds settled down, or lacking motivation in this area I find it hard to stay inspired its like I bore all my freinds with it and I'm the only bboy I know even my younger brother laughs at me.....................Having discovered the true meaning of Hip Hop and its positive sides and some self realisation I want to set up a workshop promoting the elements of Hip Hop that keep me sane like for example the physical conditioning that goes with breakin' and then the other stuff that goes with it like nutrition I've found growing up that through drugs and shit happens that these factors are overlooked and can be of value to someone searching for identity if your a devoted bboy you know and learn how to look after yourself this is espeacially usefull if you come from limited means and with gang culture and knife and gun culture on the uprise and widespread the positive energy of bboying and breakin' would be usefull to youths I want to pass on what I know and have learn't through my perseverance and passion...........I've tried to contact bboys and bgirls on here that are local to me to set up meets but only made one contact (Hailin' from deep in the wildz ov essex geeze) It would just be nice to meet up with some other bboyz and bgurlz reguarly But am I too old 4 this shit any advice, props or contacts would be cool BBOY 4 LIFE THUGGED OUT chillin'wiv a Stella PEACE luv ya L8trz

you failed to tell us how old you are lol

but simply said there is no age limit for bboying, the age range on this site is pretty big. and props for coming back to it, I can only wish you luck on your practicing, but remember to just ignore the people that haven't taken you very seriously, just practice knowing all those positive sides of hip hop/bboying you've mentioned yourself.

Majority of bboy.org does not try to go competative. There are few, who are dedicated enough. Going competative means no life other than bboying, in time and aspect it's kinnda like going pro in any sport.
At least thats what I think.

It depends. If you're still into it as a hobby/exercise, then that's fine. But if you're serious about it like the pros (as a job to make money), then that's kind of sad, unless you are very good (no offense)

I aspire to competing but I'm far from that level at the mo I need some freindly competition to bounce off to assess my level when I go out to local clubs I'm hardly ever faced with competition which also inspires me but I only know of basic moves that I throw in to my Hip Hop dancing I now want to concentrate on breakin' and start abit of a local scene
