From talking to several bboys and bgirls in my scene, I concluded that from any given organized bboy battle, the real winner is...well no one.
Sure there is a difference in skill level, but if it really came down to it, if both bboys stayed clean and execute well, neither really lost. The "winner" that is decided from that battle is due to the personal preference of the judges...which can be hella wack at times.
This is another reason bboying can never be a sport.

When I think about it, organized battles are stupid, and everything is based on heavily opinionated decisions. Also, seeing judges choose a bboy or bboy crew because they held back, because THEY know that those bboys have more than what they put on the table...ishhhh wackkkk, underdogs FTW

The way I see it, cypher battles are the real battles. But those are strange too...since all I have to do is outlast the opponent. Even if you get burned bad, or they bust out the nastiest blowups, if you keep going they'll eventually shake your hand and say they're done..so according to the cypher (at least from what I understand) last man standing wins. My stamina is very good too..hehe

if both bboys last the judges have to choose what bboy stood out most with his moves, obviously in the cypher you just have to be the last one standing. They can be wack but then that means u didn't stand out as much as you could/should/would have...so you practise

Welcome to bboying. Thats a thing alot of people get butthurt about, the judging. I've judged a few jams were afterwards they either try to battle me because they didn't like my decision, or they constantly ask me why I thought they lost. Its only opinion. If you going to go into a battle you better understand what the judges preferences are. And I hate when they try to battle the judges, that shit is so gay and played out. Yeah, battle the judges beacuse they had an opinion that you didn't like haha, that'll win you points the next time you battle where that judge is judging. Thats why I don't really care about sign up battles. I was raised in the cyphers and thats where I'd rather stay.
