first off im gonna say, if anything i say comes out wrong... no offense is intended.

alright... from that "president" video... what would a black person do if a white person said president? would they be just as mad as if a white person said the N-word?
in the vid they said it was to be more positive, or something to that effect, but if they feel the same about the word how would it be any more positive?

if anyone wants to explain or has an opinion on this please PM/comment me. thanks

I get fucking really pissed when a crowd does not appreciate foundation

I don't rip on fools who attempt to act like they know history, more or less i try to enlighten them.

bboying is my way of life, to me its changed alot about my life and probably saved me from a few things that i would have greatly regretted.

The thing is though, I DO know my shit, and i smoke fake ass kids like that. You should be able to know your history and where this art form came from and many of the other aspects as well as the essence it brings BEFORE you can rag and talk shit.

Also

if you busted out a pure dope foundation set and it was truly sick, and your opponent busted out sloppy ass power..and you lost...wouldn't you be pissed? i sure as fuck would.

thats my 2 cents.
No, i wouldn't get pissed because a dancer knows how to please his crowd. If my crowd doesn't know shit about bboying and isn't impressed by dope foundation, then i wont do it.

I totally understand where you're coming from, but then again, it's only your business if you make it your business. You can accept some people's incompetence and just ignore what they have to say, or you can let it get to you. If you DO decide to let it get to you, then don't just express how you feel about it, do something about it. Do whatever you can. Inspire, influence others--in a positive way--with your beliefs and your image of b-boying. You can say "I'm sick of this bullshit" all week, or you can say "I'm sorry that some of you feel this way, but this is how I see it:..." You know what I mean? There are better ways to express yourself. Sure, it's great to vent once in awhile, but don't let that be the only thing you think you can do. I'm saying this because I agree with you, and I think you're right on about people talking and preaching like they're some messenger of truth. In the end, those people are a bit ignorant, but it's okay, because some day they'll learn the hard way... hopefully. If not, then oh well. The people out there who keep it real will be doing their thing. I just feel that it's their job and our job to help others keep it real, and to inspire.

To people in general:
I don't think it's anybody's duty to tell others what b-boying is or what b-boying should be. I've seen a lot of people talk about how "hip-hop should be this" or "b-boying should be about this," while in reality, people will define what it is themselves. You can go back to the roots, but in all honesty, the roots only tell you how it started and where it started. The roots don't tell you what it is, how it should be, and what it's going to be, because things are always changing and things are always evolving. It's up to you--and everyone else, in that matter--to accept it or to deny it. In the end, it's how you perceive it, just as how you perceive life.
i concur and do thankyou for sharing this information, i mean i really appreciate it

They go around and run all this shit out of their mouths like they think they're better than everyone else. They look down on people who krump and listen to soulja boy just because they feel that they are staying "true to hip hop". These are the people who down on c-walking because it's "stupid and talentless". They get mad at the crowed of people who "don't appreciate foundation". Get the fuck over yourselves, just because you've become a "bboy" it doesn't mean you've joined some exclusive club. So quit talking down on others because you "know" what "real hip hop" is.

Theres so much more i'd like to say, but so little words to explain how i feel. I'll keep you guys updated.
I didn't read too many of the replys, but for my personal opinion

unfortunately, alot of people DON'T know what real hip hop is about. unfortunately I still have alot to learn, most likely you do too

and it's true, the crowd will not appreciate foundation for the most obvious reasons, UNLESS YOUR FOUNDATION IS GOOD ENOUGH! it falls along in the lines of "I may not know art, but I do know what I like"

I STRONGLY dislike souljah boy for lowering the standards of hip-hop and making people stupider. and I personally do not like krumping and I do think it's stupid, but I DO respect it.

I do not approve of people doing the C-walk or do it myself, BECAUSE it is gang affiliated and MANY stupid people do it, ESPECIALLY who aren't associated with the gang or even seem to acknowledge it as gang affiliation.

and it's impossible to learn about the culture by yourself, you learn of the culture by being immersing yourself in it.

I don't care if people are ignorant about hip-hop when they haven't been around long enough to know better, but I do care when they take either their actions too far or too little. what I mean by that is: either they're rocking ALL the bboy brand gear, doing a whole bunch of tricks they've witnessed from koreans or when you may see them at a jam or a practice once in a VERY long time (like once a month?) and think they're some sort of bboy.

and I do happen to feel like it is a gift from god and I am meant to do this.

are you trying to accuse me of being some sort of trendy poser or am I just making some sort of terrible assumption?

"Artistic talent is a gift from God and whoever discovers it in himself has a certain obligation: to know that he cannot waste this talent, but must develop it."-- Pope John Paul II

I got a serious question here, i don't really listen to hip-hop or wat ever that stuff you guys are talking about, but i know a lot about the history of the dance i do, make me less of a bboy?(i do only dance to breakbeats)
Its not going to stay in the past so you might as well let it roll, new generation coming. i respect the whole dance but this thread is back and forth and is lookin like it has no end.
(i dont think im the new generation of posers am i? im almost 20 and never said bboying is my life o_O)
