hmmmmm foundation -
02-19-2009, 12:18 AM
OK I've noticed lately that my foundation is lacking, but my power is up to scratch and my freezes tend to be better than those who have been dancing the same amount of time. But I can't feel but left out, I love foundation but I don't practice it enough. So my question is how much do you have to practice your power and freezes a week? Because these are the moves that I'm paranoid about even though I do wanna be able to practice foundation more.

i practice power on days i feel like doing power which is hella random.
i don't have that many powermoves, besides mills and a few blowups. but i train my foundation every single day. |

I'm kinda like kid Jay, I mostly practice my foundation every session, but when I'm working on a power move I only pick one and thats the only power move I work on until I get it.

Honestly I haven't really started working on foundation until recently like about 2 weeks ago, and I have to really say I feel more confident, and now I practice it everyday, It is smoother and cleaner in terms of footwork and my toprock is a bit more foundational now I guess instead of it being spasmatic

I usually warm up with foundation practice, actually.
lately, I've been trying to expand my move set so I usually stretch a little, then warm up by running through the steps (12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) then I do freeze balance and transition stuff then I work on power and that shit. I've found that for doing techs and toprock, it's better if I'm not actually practicing, but just dancing...I'm more creative that way. but this is only because I'm working on a lot of different transitions and moves at once, so I need the time. if you were really trying to improve your foundation heaploads, I would suggest doing footwork drills for the majority of your session and then doing a few power things and freeze things in between drills or after. |

I myself just practise whatever I like, so if i'm working on power
i mostly train power.. the smartest way I guess is to divide it into days.. for example: monday: dancing in general: tops, footwork, foundation, trying out new footwork techs such and such next day: repeat next day: repeat for half of the session and the other half you train your freezes next day: you train your power it goes on like that.. just remember to at least dance a little every day.. If i'm only practising power one session at least I warm up with footwork and toprock.. you gotta figure out what works best for you.. Peace |

Cheers for the help, I think I'll just do a lot more footwork/tops drills and then work on mixing it in etc.
