I just killed my hip. -

Fuuuck. Maybe it was around yesterday night at around 8:30PM.
So I was trying to record a set maybe to have an open callout and I decided that at the end of my set i'd do a headspin drill. The set came out alright, but the thing is, when I got to the headspin drill I didn't come up all the way and pretty much drilled. Then I slammed into the ground with my hip first, and I can feel the pain now. I couldn't sleep on my side yesterday night, I slept just straight lying there. I took a warm shower today and tried to heat up the hip, but yeah, it hurts like a bitch. The worst part of this is, I have a performance to do at my youth pastor's wedding, so I don't know if i'll be ready to do this. Anyone know how to speed up the healing process? I'm assuming there's a bruise but sometimes it's hard to walk straight, and I can't lean on my side at all. tl;dr Headspin drill made me slam into my hip. Help me to heal it. |

sounds like you have a nice deep bruising in your hip area... not too much to do about that, but try this: freeze some water in a paper cup or something similar. freeze it in your freezer. when it's hard, peel the cup away a bit, so some ice is there. don't peel it all, you want to have something to hold on to. then massage your hip with the ice. 15 minutes massage, 15 or so off, then repeat. that's about the best you can do, but it could help. used this all the time when I was working out for arena football...

Rest, probably two weeks. First week, just chill, second week maybe practice some kinda moves where you dont use your hips ( or stretch upper body and improve wrist strength) if you really want to practice that is.
After that it should be fairly safe to do whatever. But your body will tell you if you shouldn't do anything, through pain. |

For any injury you experience if you can move it slightly or w/e and determine it is not broken/fractured even if you dont know follow this procedure. R.I.C.E
* Rest: The first 24-48 hours after the injury is considered a critical treatment period and activities need to be curtailed. Gradually use the injured extremity as much as tolerated, by try to avoid any activities that cause pain. Often using a splint, sling, or crutches is necessary to adequately rest the injured body part. * Ice: For the first 48 hours post-injury, ice the sprain or strain 20 minutes at a time every 3-4 hours. The ice pack can be a bag of frozen vegetables (peas or corn), allowing you to be able to re-use the bag. Another popular treatment method is to fill paper cups with water then freeze the cup. Use the frozen cube like an ice cream cone, peeling away paper as the ice melts. Do NOT ice a sprain or strain for more than 20 minutes at a time!! You will not be helping heal the injury any faster, and you can cause damage to the tissues! Learn how to ice an injury here... * Compression: Use compression when elevating a sprain or strain in early treatment. Using an Ace bandage, wrap the area overlapping the elastic wrap by one-half of the width of the wrap. The wrap should be snug, but not cutting off circulation to the extremity. So, if your fingers or toes become cold, blue, or tingle, re-wrap! * Elevate: Keep your sprain or strain as best possible--try to get it higher than your heart if possible. Elevate at night by placing pillows under your injury. If it doesn't feel well in a reasonable amount of time go see a doctor like the person above me stated. |
