Well, a chiropractor will be coming in a few hours.
But Im freaking out a fair bit. Woke up, neck hurt a little, then it started hurting intensively like 10mins later everytime I moved my head or left arm - its unbearable. -The pain is over the left side of my neck, down a little closer to my shoulders. -There was no obvious cause, I was on my stomach when I woke up. -There is no numbness in my body -I do not have a headache, just the movement pain -No I hadnt being trying head spins for some time. Right now my head is facing towards the right at almost 90 degrees in this awkward position as it is the only comfortable/ bearable position. While I'm looking through info on the net and waiting a few hours for help - Has anybody had the same thing happen to them? Or have good advice? Im scared it could be pinching a nerve or something, So I might not be able to walk ever again. !!!! I can walk now and move everything. But when I move my neck or left arm, EXCRUTIATING pain comes about. Pls if you have any advice on the subject or on , now is the time to give it. But if its just something you read and dont really know about, dont mention it, I dont think some trial exercise attempt is worth it. |

it's good you have someone coming. u need to get that checked out. in juijitsu, couple guys had issues could be anything from a pinched nerve to a bulging disc or something. I'd take it really easy. don't think your gonna paralyze your self or anything that crazy, but if it hurts, definitely chill. let us know what's up!

well if chiropractor is alredy coming, then the safest advice i can give you is to lay in bed or do nothing until they come.

Yeh I thought that, but this pain is unbelievably strong.
Like everytime I move my left arm too much to type im like "Arghhhh!" "Kill me now" I think its a bit intense for just sleeping. Maybe how I slept caused it to pinch a nerve or something????? I woke up on my stomach so probably slept that way all night. |

Take a hot shower. A hot shower might loosen up your neck muscles so that you can move around better.

Yeah, do what JKL said and take a hot shower. Sometimes I wake up like that, try using different pillows, I think its time to change them. You're head was probably in a bad position most of the night...

Yeh, went to hospital- Just as a precaution. Was a pinched nerve.
Apparently they (pinched nerves) can be seriously dangerous, but basically/usually not from just waking up with it, mainly from a car crash etc. Gave me painkillers and loosened my muscles then moved my head around to a better position. Will be better in 2-5 days. :s Still hurts a bit, but yeah I did have a shower, it helped a little. SO yeah, just resting/getting full movement and no breaking for a while. Thanks for advice and reassurance anyway everyone. |

/is conditioning of the neck muscles relevant to avoiding/fixing nerve pinching? I guess it would help in avoiding getting into such positions. |

I had the EXACT same problem. I messed up my neck doing 1990s.
But I went to the chiropractor, they fixed me up and the pain went away after a week. |
