So, yesterday my class president came up to me during lunch. He asked me if I wanted to participate in the class dance-off; immediately I said no. Since i'd only been going for a couple of months, there would be bboys there who would literally smoke me to the ground. I didn't want to humiliate myself: but they didn't have four dancers because that's how many you need per grade to not get disqualified.. and he was pretty much close to begging me because there really wasn't any more dancers in our year.

I know it's for fun and everything, but almost 80% of the dancers going up are all poppers/lockers/choreographers. There ARE bboys going up, but they know how to pop/lock and freestyle. :x So I have to ask. What do I do?

The main concern is with the music. If they don't play a bboy beat and end up playing some R&B song, what do I do? I have no idea what I should do. :/ And i'm trippin' out, seriously.. 'cause if they don't play a beat I can dance to with toprock and footwork, I honestly think i'm screwed.

Do the best with what you know, if you can then you should pick up some basic popping or rnb moves from crappy usher filmclips etc. Apart from that just go at it hard, give it your best shot and nobody else can ask much more from you than that.

I don't know if the guy's that smart. He runs everything by USB and to switch it he screws up all the time.
Hell, our dance team up and we had to wait a good minute for him to find the right track. I don't even know if he's a DJ.

Just have fun and do your best (who cares about getting smoked, thats how you get better, I'm pretty sure bboys like physicx were badly smoked at some point in time).

But then I froze up entirely and forgot the set I was going to do. I did a 6-step and some footwork but then yeah, I lagged my set out. Ouch..

meh, w/e... first time i bboyed in public i totally botched it up. the adrenaline put me over. but the experience was valuable in any case and you become determined to do better next time. that or you're horribly embarrassed and never try that shit again : )
