It can be, it used to be, it would be good if it was, but people make it so it isn't.

also (and i know i'm guilty of this too) we need to stop saying that people only use power and not style. being a powerhead is a style. sometimes there's some merit to the power vs. style thing, but only if you're talkin about the kinda people that do one move and then another move and then another... etc. it's the people that just do moves... not the people that use them in they're dancing (even if they're a powerhead)... those are the guys that are guilty of misrepresenting bboys.
You should use another example if you don't want to be misunderstood. People need to remember that doing footwork is not style. You can not DO style. Everyone, let us try very hard to stop using the term style in reference for everything that is not power.

In a way, a vast majority only focus on stuff that looks crazy. Why? Because all the real nasty bboys look so ridiculously amazing. It doesn't matter if they are doing pure foundation, forever 90s, double backflip to airchair, or whatever, they look great doing it. And with this, many upcoming bboys/bgirls feel the need to focus purely on moves so that they can be as nasty. What many people tend to forget is that all the stuff the big names are doing looks so great because of their style AND originality. They can come up with the most simple of concepts (inspired by the style they possess) and it will look like the dopest thing ever. That is another problem. People are not thinking for themselves, and are not trying to go outside the box (or should I say circle? hah).
Not only are people stressing moves too much, but they are also forgetting about finding their own style, making the moves they have THEIR moves, and trying to stay original.

i don't think i could have said it better than Auro did. props. i guess that since bboyin is developed now and has the big names that everyone looks to that there's that added factor that they didn't have when bboyin started up. back then people found their own style and now people look for moves instead of flavor and originality.

I was sessioniong with my crew at a school today and
One of them said " Mann bboy so cool, I wanna learn it, except for footwork. I'ma learn the windmill first!"
That was the most retarded statement ever.
I think all people nowadays care about is powermoves :|
