Off days. -
10-20-2008, 03:18 AM
I notice it's more and more recent to have off days. I record a lot of my sessions, and almost every time I bring a camera to watch myself after.
I notice it's been getting slightly better but today it was pretty off, and I mean really really off. But I feel like it's been off for a while; off days are nothing new to me anymore even if i've only been going for almost 3 months. Sometimes it feels right but sometimes it doesn't. Any of you guys have frequent off days? I was sessioning about 45 minutes ago and then, for about 15 minutes I sessioned (it's late.. I guess, 10:30 over here and I was outside in my backyard) and well, I was watching over the footage and it was complete crap. Ouch. Watching over the footage it looks uglier and uglier. :[ |

i had a small period where i would take off days. only cause i was getting frustrated and shit going on in my life. but normally i practice several times throughout the day. quick and explosive 30-45 minute sessions. if im trying to learn a new move or something ill spend an hour or two per session.

That means that you just need to stop dancing for a few days. It happens to all of us, don't sweat it.

I'll just start off by saying the majority rappers today have no intention of supporting hip-hop culture. If you don't support the culture, then you aren't really hip-hop.

You need to have a strong reason to improve.
If you don't have one, then your desire to practice will wane with time. I practice pretty much every day and I realized that most people aren't dedicated as much as I am. But as a result, I'm the only one that improves while everyone else around me gets worse and worse. That's because I have strong reason(s) to improve. Sure, you can dance. But to dance well is something different. |

They just happen. The best remedy is taking a few days off. You'll usually dance better because of it. |

Deffo, everyone gets them. Doesn't matter how frequent it is, just take a few days off like the dude said. Go out with your friends or whatever, just take your mind off dancing for a while.

I'm not a fan of taking significant time off as much as I am of alternating my training schedule... I've learned that 20hr weeks REALLY take a toll on my mind and body, and enough of them consecutively pretty much destroys the progress I would gain...
My solution has been to have on-weeks and off-weeks an on-week is 20-30hrs, an off-week is 10-20hrs. I also have started making my sessions more concise, I make sure to waste as little time as I can during each session, if I'm not blasting away I'm always walking to stay warmed up, and 'off time' during session I stretch and think about what to train and how my mindstate should be. But everyone trains in their own way, what works for one person won't necessarily work for another. |

Yeah. In the time that you don't dance, look forward to dancing and think about what you want to do when you hit that dance floor. Even when you rest, stay focused. Then when it comes time to practice, you're suped. It's like a striptease.
.......lol. |

DO NOT RUN FROM WISDOM. RUN TOWARDS IT.
If I say a word and you don't know what it means, don't be too lazy to look it up. Don't be afraid to learn new words, don't be afraid to speak other languages, don't be afraid to learn about other cultures. Peace, God bless. |
