Help on Collapse/Swing - 03-12-2008, 09:09 PM

Ok so i cant collapse at the same time and swing because when i collapse i fall so im

too low to swing and also when i collapse i cant swing because when i collapse my

legs slide backwards ive recently discovered that my problem was collapsing like how

do i ''wind'' my legs as i collapse?? if you need a vid ask

Short answer is, you still have to collapse and swing at relatively the same time.

the trick is gonna be kicking your right leg high and straight to start it off... thats what keeps your hips high as you swing your left leg under and roll to your shoulder... watch the video in jwang's windmill guide and compare his right leg to yours when you start your swing... the difference is big, his right leg is straight and yours is extremely bent. now you may not be able to get your right leg straight yet but the straighter it gets the closer you will get to the prefferred end result

you arent collapsing right in the first place. youre basically throwing your body on its side then rolling onto your back. only your upper back should be touching the ground while doing mills so you dont have that.

stretch your legs if you cant get them straight. cuz youre gonna get nowhere

youre also kicking both legs at the same time. dont kick your left leg til your right leg kicks. but like i said, go stretch for 2 weeks then come back and try mills.

also, can you hold a baby long? one handed i mean. cuz your pivot isnt really a pivot and tahts gonna cost you in momentum.

practice babys, stretch, then ask how to COLLAPSE correctly.

haha actually thats getting there. dont tap when you pivot, just let yourself spin for a bit. youre still on youre lower back, kick harder w/ your right leg. and youre still semi kicking both legs at the same time, remember its one at a time, kick right leg while collapsing, after you roll halfway on your upper back kick your left leg.

straighten them legs out!

k imma try thx but tho i dunno when i pivot i taps cuz or else i cant spin it likes block but im gonna try and u said stretching to make my legs straighter? k thx

yeah its getting there.
k so bring your kicking leg (left) higher when u start out. then sweep it down w/ lots of force, and sweep under your right leg and all the way thru so you get lots of momentum. you seem to stop the kick
you really need to kick all the way thru.

also go read/watch some guides on the collapse. somethings a little off there. it should be smoother.



heres a video of me that might help a little, getting the kicks down.

also try to keep your legs straight.
and roll onto your shoulders, not lower back.

post another video when u practice a little.

4.5 months in Bboying and I still can't Mill.. Disgraceful.

Ok so i got a new problem now or old its that i get on my back and my mill finishes there any help? if u need another vid ask i got a new camera thats way better now
but a month and still i havent got my first rotation yet sigh but im patient

Are you landing On your upper back first off after you collapse?

After you've collapsed you want to kinda look where your going.
So look at the side your turning to.

and you to kinda go in this order
(CCW)
Collapse>left shoulder>upper back>right Shoulder>Hop back to handglide freeze

NOT like this

Collapse>Lowerback>owned.
OR NOT LIKE THIS(if you do it like this your just like messed up)
Collapse>back>right shoulder>head

Also you wanna kinda roll of your left should on the meaty part NOT the bony part
or else you will get bruises
