First before learning the windmill, you should learn backspin.
Learn the California backspin first, then new yorke backspin.
The Cali backspin is basically when your on ur back, and then you whip your legs and spin. It might feel weird, but you just need to get the feeling of whipping ur legs .
After this, you should learn collapse. Its easy, its when ur in handglide position, and you "collapse" onto your forearm. Handglide -> Forearm.
Then the new york backspin. Its in handglide position, and then you collapse and whip your legs at the same time.
