Faster mills help! (vid included) -
02-22-2008, 12:14 AM
hey guys, im kind of like stuck in a crunch with my windmills again.. im not sure if i should be bending my left leg in order to gain more speed.. cuz i can do windmills with legs totally straight.. but my left leg just totally slows me down and makes it look really slow... so yea heres my mills when i just dont care about keeping my left leg straight lol.. i mean i noticed that even really good windmills which are fast and good form.. they still bend their left leg a little bit, to get speed. so im wondering if i should just keep working on them like this.. and will i just get better so that i just wont bend as much or? lol please leave feedback:

You have some funky windmills there.
Looks like you're powering through your mills and rolling around your head instead of really swinging. How fast your windmills are are really how fast you swing your legs in relation to your body. But for you, you're not really swinging those legs at all, so you're not building any speed. If you were to keep your legs straight, it makes it much easier to build speed so it's important that you realize this so you can do more advanced stuff that are similar to the windmill motion.

Yeh, you gotta keep your legs straighter, as straight as possible, and it doesn't really look like you're kicking that hard with your left leg (could be just me).

well i agree with what u guys are saying, and overall i think my left leg is my biggest problem now.. i know how to swing my right.. but my left leg righ tnow.. isnt moving in a correct motion that it should be for maximum speed, so i think i need to throw it higher up when i get to the stall.. cuz i havent bene paying attention to it much.. but i think if i throw it up in the stlal, it will really give my mills more swing

You're not using your hands to help you spin. You are just pushing off them to roll onto your back. Instead of rolling onto your back, it seems you are just falling onto it. Try to do 1 perfect windmill. 360 degrees around, legs straight, hard kick, and easy, smooth collapse/ transition onto your back, and restab.
BBoying for 5 months.
Working on:
Speeding up footwork
Mills
Walking turtle/ crickets
1 handed airbaby
airchairs
Freezes (Pikes, Nikes, Forearm Nikes etc. )

kick both legs much harder.
on the way back over to your handglide, the leg going under really needs to pull backwards... it'll bring you up back to your handglide with less of a stall if you do it hard enough.

ok so 3mond ur basically just telling me to cleanup my form, and go back to square one to get it right.. ok i feel that, thats wut i will do then =) ... yes and i tried kicking both legs harder.. and it was crazy as shit, cuz when i tried that yesterday , i literally was so high on my back or w/e that i rolled over the bridge of my nose.. and i wasnt used to being that high, so my stall was all the way down in my crotch LOL.. so yea i think if i just kicked harder , lets straight, like i did, but thsi time prepared for it better by placing my stab higher, i will suceed. sound right?

NICE!!....but honestly your mills are a tad bit too high, your not rolling correctly shoulder-shoulder, if you notice your more back-head, almost halo's there. but yeah try to get lower and roll nicer shoulder-shoulder

Your left leg is part of your problem.. I see you are swining with your right leg but you are being very lazy with the left... Keep both legs straight but focus on swinging both of them, your left is no exception! Swing it HARD back and up
