Hey yea its me again...i've hit another block :P I think this one will be easier though.
Ok so now i never hit my leg on the ground, and I always land above my hips...my problem is I'm rolling along my back (above hips, below shoulders) instead of across the shoulders.
I've tried "kicking my face" but then i just swing into the ground faster, I think I know why though...
Are you supposed to (CW here) swing your left leg around enough to turn your whole lower body before kicking your head? the way i see this in my head is that before you swing or collapse you roll your left leg high in a circle and behind you to turn your hups, so ur right leg is pointing more diagonally, and then kick.
Thats whay i've been trying, but i'm finding it really difficult cuz my arm keeps collapsing before i can swing if i bring my left leg around.
Sry for all the text...but am i on the right track?
edit: gimmie a bit i'll post a vid to show u guys wat i mean
Ignore the restab part lol I haven't practiced that at all yet I'm trying to get a clean collapse first.
The leg motion you're describing probably won't work. I've probably tried it myself in the past. You're trying to cut the windmill motion short so you can get a faster restab. Don't worry about the leg swinging motion too much. As long as you keep your legs in a straight V shape, things will work themselves out.
What I would concentrate on is staying on your shoulders. Lean ONTO your shoulders when you windmill. Keep your weight all on there. How I learned how to lean on my shoulders is by trying to roll my head on the ground and I would fail, but I would fall short and lean on my shoulders.

hey one more quick question...how important is your free arm in getting onto your shoulders? cuz my body is sore all over right now but I just tried pushing into the ground with my free hand hard too and i've landed high on my shoulders 3/3 times, so is the free arm also really important or am I just a bit too hopeful :P
The free hand isn't that important. It only acts as a stabilizer.
And on the restab, you're only rolling over it.
But if you want to use it and it helps you, be my guest.
Yeah I heard that NiSenNen, that part with rolling over the free arm. Guess it's true then. When I hit one mill cant rly find a natural place for the free arm except under my body. I still think it's hard as hell to keep momentum after a restab.
alright here check out the video i got its in my first post I really think I'm getting there...i compared my collapse w/Banshees and at one point (right as i hit my shoulder) we looked almost exactly the same, but then instead of rolling across my shoulders I rolled across my lower back, so i gotta keep workin on that...
so wat else do i need to fix?
You have good form for the rest of the mills, but the beginning collapse is your main problem.
Your legs come together right at the moment of your initial swing. If you watch your video, you can clearly see that the two points (your white socks) come too close together in mid-air. Keep them spread even at the beginning and throughout the windmill motion.
Also you're starting your collapse too late. The collapse is actually a slow extended motion. You want to start collapsing as soon as you start to swing, not all at one time when you swing. The collapse isn't some incredible speed boost, it's mostly to lower yourself onto your shoulder. If you watch video guides, you'll see that people often collapse very quickly. That isn't a necessary motion, but they just made it a natural part of their form. It will confuse people because it happens so quickly. Collapse slowly and make sure you can get onto your shoulder before you start swinging.
If you can fix these two things, you'll be able to restab or at least very close to it.
get height before you collapse by pushing off with your left foot, keeping your right foot even higher so that you still have the same unwinding rotation. this gets ur legs/hips higher so that you can dip your shoulder blade lower and more smoothly
