WINDMILL HELP - can't get the kicking leg streigh!! - 02-20-2008, 04:05 PM

So tnx for reading. Well i will say that the problem is the kicking leg . ( left ) The collapse is all ok i dont hit my hips any more , the only problem is the kicking leg ( left leg ) which kicks unders the right. So when i start the windmill at the handglide postion , my left hand is stabing , and my right leg is streight and when i start i rise up my RIGHT leg , and then i bend my LEFT leg and kick under the RIGHT ! But the problem is when i bend my LEFT leg at the bigining ( when i am kicking under right leg ) i cant kick it streight after the kick. Maybe you didnt understand so here are some pictures:

This is when i am in a hanglide position :

You see my left leg is ready for the kick and it is bend in

This is picture when i am on my BACK:

How you see i cant kick out the bended leg it stays at the same positon as it was in the handglide .

I have tryd to do with bouth ( left and right ) leg streight at the bigining , but then i dont have no speed and no momentum. I only make the left leg streight when i stop . I have this problem like for 2 weeks or more . I streich i do all what it takes to make that leg streight so i can kick it out , but i just can't !

------------------------

If you dont understand from the pictures then look bboys banshes collapse guide , when he is starting at the handglide postion he rotate around the left hand and then he rises the RIGHT leg and the LEFT leg ( the kicking which kicks unders the right leg ) bends at the bigining and then he kicks it out , but i can't kick it out my leg stays bend when i get on my back.

umm i think i get it. well try this. just keeping the left leg straight from the beginning. instead of thinking it as] a kick, try making it more like a swing. u swing to get the momentum, not kick. ionnoi if that helpeed, but it helped me. i mean other than that u just gotta keep practicing and really just FORCING yourself to keep it straight.

also put up a video, and have people critique it. it helps alot.

Your problem is either one of two things.
#1 You have a bad habit of bending your legs after you have kicked them

or

#2 You bend your legs when you are on your back because of a lack of flexibility

Pertaining to one. If you really can't force yourself to keep your legs straight through constant willpower. Try duct taping your legs straight. Hell, I tried it and it works lol.

Pertaining to two. Some people aren't very flexible so when they raise their legs up, they bend them naturally to compensate for lack of flexibility. Ex: It's easier to raise your leg bent than it is to raise your leg straight. On the ground, try sitting with your legs out in front of you and spread, then lean forwards.

lol yea duct tape. haha. when i was learning i tried with a snowboard attached to my feet.
anyways, to help you out, just work on keeping your legs completely straight , dont even bend it to get your kicking momentum. take it slow til you can keep that leg striaght, then you can go back to kicking.

work on making your collapse as strong as possible. think 'delayed power'. you'll feel a stall as you're collapsing, but once your upper back is flat on the floor, the whip will suddenly swing you over like crazy. try it =P
