Quick Windmill Question - 02-07-2008, 05:00 PM

I am wondering if your shoulder is supposed to hurt after practicing windmills. Whenever I practice windmills, when I collapse I land on my shoulder before rotating onto my upper back. I don't crash into it or hear a "boom" sound when I drop but it does come in contact with the ground and after a while of doing that over and over again it starts to get bruised.

Do your guys's shoulders hurt when practicing windmills? or does your shoulder not touch the ground at all?

No, you don't get used to it. That's just bad technique.
A lot of people mess up on the collapsing shoulder because they don't know how to COLLAPSE. Teach yourself how to collapse without injuring your shoulder.

Yes, I used to bruise my shoulder too, but I fixed it by having a cleaner form.

Im going through it too. Worked on mills a week or so now. My shoulder is red most of the time I just wear big sweaters and an elbow pad. In conjunction those two makes the strenuous practice worthwhile

Breakdance is hard...

Collapse right you do your initial kick. Don't worry, the timing will come in time. Keep practicing. :]

Collapse on the (squishy) muscles of your arm, then proceed to roll onto your shoulder.
You notice that if you start to roll on bone too hard, you'll start to get bruised.
