How to practice? - 09-16-2005, 01:10 AM

I dont have an open space in my house but we are having an addioting built,. i wuz wondering if it would be a smart thing to like put on a sweat shirt/trackpants and practice mills on the concrete slabs

or would that hurt? im eager to start attempting them but i dont want to break something and not be able to practice anything else.

actually you should learn form on carpet, and try it on lino or something smooth. back in the days when i couldnt mill, i only practiced on carpet so i had perfect form and memorized like, all the steps haha (pathetic, i know).. then i went to home depot, bought some lino and tried it, boom baby. i got mills in like 5 tries.. not clean or anything, but i got them. took me about a month for decent stabbed mills.

if you dont wanna do it in the house, or on concrete... grass isnt that bad either you know..

I got my self 2 strokes of lino, 1m x 2m. I practise mills with the lino on grass, cuz else I bruise myself a bit quick. Just started to learn the mill; twenty wrong callopses are a bit painfull on concrete.

Don't do it on carpet, yeah its easier, cause u get more traction, but then when u actually move to smooth, u won't be able to do it.. And you can't do any variations on carpet.. Just go to Home Depot , and ask for a lino mat, they'll sell u a 10 ft one for 20 bucks, thats where i got mine
