Lightbulb Backside Windmill Guide. - 08-09-2005, 11:45 PM

This here be a guide to the start of a windmill from your back without any rotations prior to performing the windmill. If you think rotations are better...then just do whatever floats your boat. (this guide is without the rotations)

I've compared this with the stabbed position, and to me... once you get this down it is much easier to perform. Your stabbing arm also takes less stress since you are starting from the back.... and I was told my backside start looked cleaner then my stabbed start.

-CCW.

1.Lay on your back. As you swing your right leg forward towards your chest shift to your left side and lean back (throw the kick with your entire body). Now, swing your right leg in a semicircular (half circle) motion. Left, Up, Right.

2.As your right leg is reaching its peak, start your left leg in the same exact motion you threw your right with (left up right). Now, as your left leg is continuing/starting its motion, your right leg will be continuing to the right then down then left again barely clearing the floor.

-.As you practice this you will notice that your hips will magically start to lift off the ground all by them selves..... sweet huh? You will also notice that your lower half will be cranking your upper half into a roll.... THIS IS ALSO GOOD!. DO NOT FEAR THE ROLL. THE ROLL IS GOOOD.

- After you get the start ^ down pretty well, don't stop. Think about what comes next and then DO IT. You know for a fact that in order to clear your left leg through the end of the first rotation you need to have a clean swing with your right leg...

After that... same as always... SPREAD and STRAIGHT legs .... ROLL.

Another thing. The kicking or swinging of the legs is not a separate timing combination like some guides say, which really screwed me up. Both kick/swings happen at the same time. Think about it. While the up leg is keeping the down leg from crashing into the ground, the down leg is keeping the up leg from going too vertical.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

(SiDe NoTe): Be careful not to swing your legs too far over your head when you start. If you do, you will SPIN in a vertical motion. We want to ROLL.

Kick/Swinging- All this means is to rotate your hips. Your legs should NOT move at all. Legs are spread and straight.... and then they stay glued in that position... DONT MOVE THEM... just rotate your hips.... CIRCULAR MOTION will come natural to you. ---BTW, in the 1st step I actualy do want you to kick your leg like you would a soccer ball. After that....just kick/swing.

KAIZEN- Constant self-improvment.

Perfect work -> Perfect Results
Oustanding work -> Oustanding Results
Excellent work -> Excellent Results
Great work -> Great Results
Good work -> Good Results
Poor Work -> Poor Results
Nothing

^ None of that chart is true. The truth is that Perfection in work gives you Outstanding results. It works that way for all levels. If your do a poor job at work you will get fired, and have nothing.

ah yes, so how do you continue mills? Is there anything we're suppose to do with our upperbody?

People could try learning mills from this position, but I wouldn't recommend it.

practice makes perfect? no no no.... PERFECT practice makes perfect

practice it correctly

How do you continue mills?.. *scoff*.... Just rotate your hips with your legs spread and straight. And, the thing is you don't need your upperbody to start the mills off this way (that is one of the pros about starting the windmill this way). It is all in the corkscrew motion of the legs that give you your momentum needed to start.

Before you collapse, spin on your hand in the direction of the windmill- then lean down towards the ground with your shoulder and put the right foot in the air. This will allow you to kick your left leg through. Your shoulder should almost be touching the ground before you collapse your arm.

Also, heres a really good link to help you out.
