help (clip) - 06-30-2004, 01:25 AM

please just tell me how to fix my mills. everytime i try, i just cant re collapse onto the back part of my shoulder, i end up hitting the front of it, and i cant seem to fix my problem, so some advice would be appreciated. by the way, i can start from handglide, i just didnt feel like it. i have a smooth first collapse, this was just easier at the time. thanks in advance.

DUDE OMFG, are u stupiddddddd????? once u master the windmill, thats when u start trying different variations, i cannot analyze your problem because its so fast from that position. start in handglide and ill tell u what to do

first of all, no shit, i started learning the second mills before i knew i was doing mills wrong, i just started messin around with them again for fun, and it wont even take me long to learn them anyways, theyre nothing like other variations, being so high up for the transition completely kills the need to hop or stab. other than the fact that its hard to get momentum without doing some stabbed mills first, i dont c y i couldnt learn these first. i already understand how to windmill, and no im not stupid. i never stabbed when i was doing mills the way i used to. i wouldnt even call them mills. but i got soo much momentum that i came close to having no handers before i even heard of stabbed mills. thats when i asked an experienced breaker about them, and he told me to learn stabbed, so thats what im doin. i dont feel like uploadin another vid tonight, it takes an assload of time that i would rather spend practicing that arguing with you, so enjoy what you got, and go try convict mills yourself.

i know exactly what your problem is

check this out. you get more torque startin off in that position cuz you can whip your legs around as apposed to startin in handglide position and pushing off then tucking etc.

you'd build more strength startin in handglide and you could learn some other stuff a little faster prolly, but if you insist on startin in that position then here's what your doin wrong

1. your goin too fast
ya your prolly like this dudes stupid and dont know what he's talkin about.. but look at the vid.. your tryin to get as much speed as possible so you can whip your body around to the starting position. you are comin around and planting which is good that you know you have to do that.. but your not planting fast enough..

2. your bringing your hole upper body up before the plant.
if you planted sooner you wouldn't be rollin around on your head and you could tuck easier.

so try this.
take it slow.. start off and when your on your back bring your arm over and plant.. dont start to plant when you on your side or you'll be in weird position and collapse like your doin in the vid. if you bring your arm over when your on your back you won't have to flail your upper body up so high to get over, and you won't be lookin stupid scuffin your head up. once you get a good plant down and its strong enough your tuck into the finish will be no problem and will come with little practice

so you need to slow down your actual mill, and speed up your plant. then you can work on speed and THEN you can work on variations.. dont try to come up with crap when you dont have your mills down.

peace out
sav

im not tryin to do multiple mills goin that fast, ill break my wrist. i might be able to, but i dont think so. just sayin i could go alot faster with 1 rotation, and if i could link, i could do a bunch of fast mills. n if ur interested, i can get a vid up of how much faster i can go.

see, what you wanna work on is linking. once u get the linkage, thats when you start speeding it up.

You could learn those first, but they'd be weird -- because the whole point of learning stabbed mills is so that you can learn to use your HIPS and GROIN to generate momentum, NOT your legs . You say you got close to no handers, but linking them properly would be near to impossible if you don't know how to do the hip torque -- imagine your legs as a fan attached to the base, which is your torso .. the blades of the fan are rotated by the center point, which is connected to that base, right? That's how you should be "swinging" your windmills .. It's not really in the legs at all, but in your hips and torso .. you need to torque your hips hard and twist your torso sideways for no handers, not just kick around, flip over, kick again, etc .. if you get the right motion, it shouldn't even feel like you're kicking; it should feel like you're rolling around with near no effort at all since you're subconsciously doing the torquing movements that draw on centrifugal force to whip your mills around.

And the "convict" mills are like weird confusions (hands on side of head) .. if you get solid no handers down first, they'll look much better, and you won't be all piked and high when you turn over.

Hope it helped.

Er, drawing on my previous post, again, not necessarily. If you have a crappy link, you'll roll onto your middle/lower back and it doesn't matter how fast you swing your legs, it'll look weird and choppy (like fast stall fall speed up again repeat) .. you have to learn the hip and groin torque for when you link and work it together with the torso twist.

You got the rotation down you are just about to link, but you do 2 things.

You forget to kick your left leg

Your legs close a bit

Yes learn from handglide, you can do them continuous like that if you got the kick and restab and collapse down.
