help with windmills -

someone please help with my windmills.. ive seen hundreds of clips and videos on it.. and i just dont understand where i get my momentum.. i start out on my but with my left leg tucked in and my right extended out, with my left arm touching my stomach but straight down holding my upper body up. then i place my left arm in a handglide position "turning my body" this is where im stuck at.. i cant, or understand how to kick to get momentum to start the mill.. will anyone help me plz..
i can get the rotation laying on my back and just flaring my legs while turning my body.. but im trying to learn it this way..
any suggestions ?
