Windmill problem, video included. - 10-05-2003, 04:04 PM

The problem seems to occur when I am stabbing to go onto my second revolution. My feet hit the ground upon the stab, also my head rises (I dont know if that has anything to do with it). I'm also 6'2", does height play a factor?

height is a factor.
You need to just follow through and try to force yourself to roll again.
I think when you try to stab the second time that stops you.
Also try to keep your head lower to the ground (this helped me a lot)

Its amazing what one can accomplish when one doesn't know what he can't do.

Hey man i saw the video. You need to get your upper body around faster to push off again. you have everything good, but in order for that foot not to hit the floor you need to get your upper body around faster so you can push off again... also.... they way you start out in hand glide position you dont hae to have both legz that high just have (CCW) your legs apart and left leg up and bent.... thats all you need

it is simple, u need to roll up higher, u are rolling like in the center of your back, roll more on your shoulders this will raise you up to clear the ground.

How does one roll up onto his high back, exactly? Once I collapse, I make it onto my left shoulder (CCW), but then I just roll onto my butt practically. I can't connect my mills because my feet hit the ground. Help!

Yes! - 10-07-2003, 10:01 PM

I'm getting closer to linking them. I'm still having trouble with hitting my feet on the ground though. On the upside I found that in the video my legs were as straight and wide on the second stab as they were on the begining, so I forced myself to keep my legs straighter and wider which helped me gain more momentum. I now find myself almost rolling on my shoulders, starting from the upper right shoulder back area (where i collapse because I go CW), then onto my upper left shoulder back area. However when I turn over from that part to try to do what you guys call "roll" I still find myself hitting my feet on the ground. Tomorrow I am going to take it outside where there is more because it's to small to link mills in this area (because I'm to damn tall and because when I do my windmills they I dont stay in exactly one spot). Any additional tips would be cool so I can work on it tomorrow. Thanks guys.

I see! - 10-07-2003, 10:31 PM

I see what your going through...this helped me alot: Focus on the leg that hits the ground when your trying to link.... since you are (CW) im sure it is your left. Ok once you get to the point where your left leg goes under your right leg Just look and focus at your left leg and keep it from hitting the ground.... If you focus on that problem it should help.
I can get my Mills , but i do not extend my legs as far apart as I can and keep them straight and stiff. My mills right now my knees are bent a little bit but its ok......i am still practicing mills everyday so one day ill have them very good.

Yes. if you dont have enough room where you are doin mills you needa move to a bigger place, if you outside make sure you use cardboard. Also MUSIC really helps when you do your mills! it pumps you up!

& oh yea..... if you go to a dance dont be nervous to do ur mills even tho u think youll mess up..... I just went to my homecoming dance this past saturday and me and my friend got in a big ass circle , did footwork/mills/and freezes. And I did my Mills the best iv ever done them there, ADRENALIN HELPS!
later dude just practice you should have your mills ANY day now

I got the solution !! - 10-08-2003, 11:07 AM

Hey man, I had the exact sam problem you've got right now !!!
It's really easy, you speed is okay, you need te get you legs higher, and make sure when you rotate back on your stomach you have to psuh right off to the side again, it sounds really stupid but believe me, thats the way to do it !!!
Hope this helps

Sup, b-boy? You really get most of your height from your first kick... but that's not your problem bro.... Take a look at the floor-hugger (aka Insane/crazy) windmills where the b-boys entire front body lay on the ground but their legs still spin around them... The trick to keeping your left leg from hitting the ground is to pull your right leg over top of you when you're doing your mills... the further over you you pull your right leg when you're going from your back to stomach.. the more room your left leg has to swing around... the same goes for your left leg when you're going from your back to your stomach. If your legs are locked wide.. then pulling your leg over you will keep your other leg from hitting the ground. Try it out bro

What the...??!!!
