I used to pop for about a month, but then I quit but I wanted to start up again. I don't take lessons or anything so I'm really bad... Well, heres the video...
Thanks for helping me in advance! Also sorry for the bad quality.. idk why its like that
First of all, lessons =/= skill. Dedication = skill. As far as I know a lot of the poppers on this forum don't take lessons.
Okay here's my advice based on the video. A lot of your angles look awkward to me in a way. I can't quite put my finger on it, I'm sure someone else knows what I mean, but I can't find a way to say it. Another thing I'd say is to work on making your dimestops cleaner. You seem primarily botting so dimestops are important to get down.
Also, try to find ways to move your legs around. For a majority of the video they seemed very stiff and in place. It might be good to bend them once in a while, find ways to use them more often.
And as most beginners, and even more experienced poppers need to do, work on those wave isolations and make sure that they make logical sense. Study the way that waves travel and watch your video to see if your waves are logical. Remember the isolations, they are the key to smooth waves.
I don't know if you were hitting in the video but I will assume that you weren't and were dimestopping. Hope this helps.
P.S. Don't forget to practice staying on beat!
Jrod: and if you disagree with me then you are worse than hitler.
Who needs classes when you have youtube; no, i'm just kidding. Classes probably help way more than youtube. But still, "I don't take lessons or anything so I'm really bad..." doesn't make an excuse. It's all good though. You admit you're new and learning.
I think first thing to say that stood out to me is that you're botting and dimestopping mostly, but using a song that would probably be much more fitting if you were hitting (hard).
As TuYu said, there's something about those hand angles that look awkward, and almost uncomfortable (from my eyes). It almost seems like you're kinda forced into that position, so, if you are, try loosening up a bit.
