NewB StylE (Oh Yeah!) - 01-20-2005, 11:14 PM

Hey This is a sample video of me popping. Just a quick recording of me popping for the sole purpose of opinions. Please do not be a hater like everyone else I know and post stupid things (or pm).

I just rushed a recording put a music track in and uploaded it. Don't worry about the tutting I know that is off...I usually don't do that...Newaiz...What do you think?

Maybe I'll try harder in my next vid

I like to consider myself a popper...Sometimes I don't even kno if I'm actually popping...I just start dancing

Lol...I'm not that great or anything, but I think it's alright. When I saw that video, it looked like you were thinking too much, and trying too hard. Those tuts are kinda...just work on it. Try some variation too, the waves are pretty nice I guess. Get PoppinRice's opinion though.

dance...........dance...........dance........your not dancin man. You need to actually feel the music and get into it. Your just pullin off a move at a time and then working your way from move to move. I didnt see any hits besides a few chest. You start all of your waves from the right side. When you do a turnout you turn constantly to your right also. Just take notes of the little things like that. Make it so when you dance people dont know what you are going to do next. Play with the music. Dont be repetitive with your angles.

Im gonna make a post tomorrow bout angles and stuff bc a lot of cats keep goin to the same ones theyre comfortable with other than steppin out of the box and catchin some new ones.

But i mean for a newb its aight. You want critizism bc that improves you. Just keep workin on the little things. Bc a bunch of lil things put together is one big thing. And your dance should be one big expression of you. Payce.

ur arm/body waves are pretty good for a newb, most newbs dont get there waves through their shoulders, u look a bit repetitive with ur waves and chest "hits" (they look more like a heartbeat sort of thingy.) Ur style looks a bit weird and unorginised but this is just my opinion so dont take it seriously.
oh and how old r u and how long u been popping?

Let's see...I'm was 15 just turned 16 last week and started to get into popping seriously near the start of the school year. I Wave and Hit most of the time in that video and yes I did what you said Chippa.

"Your just pullin off a move at a time and then working your way from move to move"

I needed opinions on those

Also I stated

So I needed to pull off all the 'moves' I knew so that I could work on them all and improve them. There was supposed to be:

Waving (repetitive)
Tutting (Yes I know I screwed up on them...)
Strobing (A lil fast as rice had told me)
Hitting (repetitive)
Gliding (I can't really glide...I'm a slider {I drag slightly})
Saccin (I think...still unclear on what exactly it is)

And that's all I can remember that was in the video. I'm also working on toyman and I still can't seem to get my twistos down yet...I get repetitive with my waves and hits because it's what I practice most of the time. At least I got the basics down Still gotta work on that left hand wave too...

@ChippaStyles: "dance...........dance...........dance........your not dancin man" Sorry kinda rushed it man also the music was hard to hear through the dishes being washed, the TV being on in the family room, and my music was 3 rooms away =P

@warm shizzle: Regarding the chest hits...aren't they supposed to look like "a heartbeat sort of thingy"?

aight coo man. Saccin is a foot work/movement. Kinda like a shuffle to the beat. Wigz has a vid that you can check. Rice has one. On Rices just check his feet. Keep it funky. PAyce

yout tracing and body waves were your best moves. I think you chest popped a lot in the video, your glides were terrible, you had some liquid-esque there. Some of them looked safe. I've seen some people get dressed up for the video and I thought you took it to a whole new level, lol. Like you were trying out for a popping job and we were gonna interview you afterwards

You look like you cud become a good waver, maybe you'd wanna implement more waving tactics

in my opinion, i think getting the basics down would be the basic move (of course) and being really isolated at it.

Oh and the strobing, well there is f00kin hundreds of different moves you could have done when it comes to strobing but you chose to copy the one that everyone on here, that pops must have seen which is of the guys on the stage, u can usually download it as "Nerd Dancing" or "Nerd Breakdancing" he does the exact same strobing effect you tried doing except he adds head movement an by hell does it look shit hot.

a hearbeat pop thingy is more like a move, a real chest hit is flexing ur chest and stomach muscles. i find that if ur hitting other things like ur arms as well as ur chest that if you do a hearbeat hit it puts too much emphasis on ur chest and ppl dont see ur arm hits.
