looking pretty good but predictably, your left-to-right is weak. we all tend to develop our dominant side first so keep training that side until you even the illusion out.

are u meaning to move yur head like that, cuz u look a lil goofy doin it, but if thats yur style then dont mind me, other than that kinda work on yur wrist-elbow transition, try not to move yur shoulder so high up, remember to kinda twist the elbow as yur moving the wave to yur shoulder, so far u doin good tho keep it up ^^

if ur workin on a pure arm wave... make sure ur elbows are straight, not bent... its a touch harder to get down the technique that way...

oh my God. i've been doing the bent elbow crap ever since i began. in the past 4 months, i've realized how sloppy the effect actually looks no matter how hard i try. luckily, it's only a small part of the whole waving spectrum. i think i got my technique from Morax's tutorial though...

if it comes down to full-scale waving foundation, i'd say both, but the straight-arm way probably takes priority for most of us. in it's bare form, it requires a lot more muscle control (triceps specifically) and the increased precision enables you to execute much smaller waves.
bent elbows have their place in waving; they don't have to be done the way it is shown in that video. yet, since they add so much size and shape to the illusion, novices tend to overuse this form or lack the skill to diversify or control it. when it comes to your dancing, which form you choose is up to you. how much we practice will tell how well we can execute them. |

This 'Boogz' dude is just bending his elbow when he displays the other method, not bending it slightly and rotating it like Morax asks us to. I admit, the straight arm way will probably make your overall technique cleaner, but I can see the wave happen when your elbow is bent. You have to tell me this dude is passing a wave through his elbow because otherwise it isn't visible at all.

techniques are just starting points, man. you have to expand on your own natural lines, fingers, levels, and ideas. the illusion has many variants not limited to one or the other. my commentary was only about arm waving as a skill, which any serious waver has to develop for themselves.
as far as dancing goes, anything is fair game as long as it serves your aesthetic. there are no waving contests. we're not judged on how closely our waves resemble actual bodies of water. lots of really dope wavers aren't dope because they're only good at waving; they're dope because they can use waving to dance. i debate with myself all the time whether i should just dance with what i know or keep training techniques. i now think both are important but dancing should always be the end goal and not just a smooth wave. |
