buz, i dont know how you do it but you always seem to take some things the wrong way. you are right when you quoted what madd said. but the last thing he said was this:
"This has been very enlightening, you guys seem a lot less militant than everyone else I've heard from. I feel more confident that I'm going down the right path now.

Thanks again seriously~"

translation "thanks for not attacking me for asking a question"

and what do you do in your next post? yell at him for asking something 5 posts ago. thats all im saying. he realized his position, theres no need to keep driving your point home when he already understands. it turns people off, dig?

can you guys check this clip of me and my brother "rocking"

i just watched buz's tutorial, and it seems like we're just doing freestyle rocking..can you let me know if we're doing nething wrong or if we're on the right track somewhat

and the 2nd clip is a bboy battle where we began by rocking..im just wondering if its alright to rock in a bboy battle like that (oh and check out the whole battle too if you want, and let me know who you think won lol)

im the guy in the blue and white windbreaker in both clips

what up Artoooor how are we doing dawg....

By the looks of your clip there you seem to be on the right track because that is what your style is you see you don't need to look like anyone else if that's what you are bringing so that what you are and what you got.. now yeah there's no doubt that you and your partner are hitting the right beat and burns and also going down and following the music and that's whats really important in this dance call Rock .. and yeah you are doing some freestyle there and also mixing it with rocking which there's nuttin wrong with that .. but you realy need to develope some yerks you see the way you go down on your clip it is a form of the yerks I call straight down ... a straight down yerk is a yerk that you go down folding but not crossing your legs which was one of the most comon yerks back in the 1970's in fact the mid 60's to early 70's which was the combo of freestyle in the mid 60's thru the early 70's but than later in the early 1970's the cross of the legs began and it change the look of rock to a little complicated ... in the early 1980's the rock steady crew and most of the up-town rockers ran away with that style and started to used that straight down yerk but in stead of folding it they would shuffle there feets back and forward and go down and now today people are bringing out the folding but keeping it straight down.. which again it's a style that people had develope .... but I myself like the idea of a cross leg yerk it's more original from the 1970 rockers ...

but yeah dawg you are going down the right path but work on the cross leg yerks !!

peace and GOD BLESS..

thanks for the reply buz, i'll try working on the cross leg yerks

oh and what are the most common burns? maybe if you could make a vid with various burns it would be helpful to other cats trying to learn rock. or should we just get creative with it? lol

What is Breaklyn rock?

Also, how popular was rocking back in the 70s? I guess quite a bit more popular then it is now? Did they have Uprocking jams like they do now back in the days or was it just do it while hanging out? Would the average kid from Brooklyn know what Rocking is, then or now?

NICE KITTY FACE CHUCKY !

Anyway how are you chuck ...
well for starters I have no idea what is breaklyn rock there's no such thing unless someone is just trying to get creative I would not say creative I'll just keep it Bore .. lol lol ..but really no such thing ,,,don't belive the hype..

and I don't think that rocking was more popular today than the 1970's because that was the only thing out there for youth hanging in the streets and in the clubs doing there thing well I'm talking early / mid 70's ...

This was the deal back in the 1970's rock was part of the whole dance well there was the hustle , and than their was rock it was a must dance and play during the early / mid 70's .. rocking was excatly as going to a bboy where there's bboy and there's popping and of cause admirering the d-jays mix.. in the 1970's their was hustle dancing and rocking and also admirering the d-jays mix

a question about rock jam ?? I don't think that there are rock dances or jams today at all... they are call bboy events A rock jam is when they throw rock contest here and there it is rare that you hear about a rock contest in these bboy event today ....

Back than most of the dances through rock contest every other weekend and it was always being advertize ...

and for your final question ..::

Would the average kid from Brooklyn know what Rocking is, then or now?

No way today the average kid are of today are learning and asking more question about rock it is why all this drama accure because there are many storys out there about rock like....

how it got stated ?
what year ?
the popular moves ?
who was the first rocker ?
who evented it and what year ?
did breaking came from rocking ?
and the most popular question ...... is top rocking the same as up-rock !

OHHH and one more who was the best rocker back in the days ...
I can answer that !!! ME !!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL ... just kidding ..

Hey chucky I hope I was helpfull ...

GOD BLESS..

YOOOOOO...

Sorry i haven't had a chance to hit this up lately but i have been working like crazy lately!

FIRST OFF

the straight down jerk. DAMN this was some info i have been wanting to know for a long time. See this is why i love when i see other people ask questions, cause as much as i have studied this dance, i still got alot to learn!!! This was one piece of info that i needed!! THANKS BUZ!!! Love the way you articulated that. Me and the guys always wondered about that...cross legged...feet together..etc..

2nd about breaklyn rock...

From what i know, this was a attempt to blend rock and breaking. I agree with buz...it doesn't exist, not to say that you can't do it! but more along the lines that people attempted it and it didn't stick. It would be as if i tried to blend rock and poping and called it pop rocks!!! ahaha i think thats a candy!!hahaa...

aight well i will try to get back on this forum more often...peace to yall

Hey Metheores I like that Brooklyn Rock Buz ..

stop making my head big..man that didn't sound good .. lol lol lol lol

peace out ..OUR ROCKING THING .. TOUCH OF ROCK BUZ

Hey Bandit : . Me and the guys always wondered about that...cross legged...feet together..etc..

You hit something there"" there were two ways of going down you can go down with legs together not cross straight down without folding and it would be consider just going down while doing freestyle and than there's the going down with the legs together with a fold meaning yerking your body as you go dowm with legs together is consider a straight down yerk so the yerk is not always in the cross of the legs but in the folding motion of your body.... a yerk with legs cross and just facing your apponent is a forward yerk..and a folding cross leg going down ending with your back facing your apponent is a half yerk and a folding yerk with your body doing a full turn and ending down facing your apponent is a full yerk..

When I started working with rob nasty he kept going around as a full yerk but he was not folding he was just starting it as a front skip yerk into a full spin but againg like I said with no folding and I approached him and told the hard headed ..lol lol .just kidding .. that he was not doing a yerk that all he was doing was doing a full spin.. than hit got it all together ... so you need to fold in order to creat the yerk no fold no yerk.. most bboy today are just doing that shuffle thing with out folding ...and they are just going down ....

oops i didn't put the comma right next to it. Cuz i have heard of Brooklyn Rock and i though u needed clarification man. Anyways, the only thing i've heard about brooklyn rocks is this... it's basically like Bandit says, blend of bboying and rocking. But what i've been taught is basically just blending some burns/disses within ur toprock to give it more attitude. I use it depending on who im battleing and depending on the mood

Yo metheores,

I think we are getting things mixed up. I was responding to the question breaklyn rocking. BREAKLYN....This was a crew/concept between paulskee, johnny, bionic man and Ken Swift around 2001. It actually mixed rock and breaking. I am not sure of all the details, i believe there is footage on youtube. Now you said Brooklyn rock! well BROOKLYN rock was another name for rock or uprock. Since the rock is from brooklyn when peoplel the other bourough seen a rocker would say that guy does the brooklyn rock, or so i would guess. It just like how a bboy might be refered to a to as a bboy, breaker, breakdancer, or acrobat!....

Buz...

thanks for that info mang, it is so hard to get it all through typing, what takes 5 paragraphs to explain, you could show me in person in 5 seconds. Well in june you show me!
peace
