Certain songs are not "Uprock tunes", for instance "Another One Bites the Dust". Nevertheless, I love this joint and it was a big hit to us back in the 80's. Also, even though The Jacksons 5 had Uprock hits like "Hum Along and Dance", "Dancing Machine" is not one of them BUT I have Rocked to it, he he. My point is some songs have that Soul/Funk vibe... even early Rap by Big Daddy Kane and Rakim. However, don't think I'm saying it's okay to Rock to Rap music, because it's not. The main thing is knowing the music your Rocking to - so you don't look foolish, lol. The majority listed are Uprock jams - the 60's - 70's Funk & Soul.... even some Disco hits too.

I know this thread is going back some, but there's a decent list of uprock tracks on the dynasty website.

i dont know if you guys do, but if you dont my advice would be to start collecting records. you'll find so much stuff. im always looking for the records no one is dancing to. evrytime i do a demo i like to dance to a song that ethier no one has ever heard before or has heard in a long time. on the new dynasty site im gonna include some links to great vinyl site so everyone can research some songs on thier own.

KIDS??
That is one seriously fast tune. I'm quite surprised to hear you'd rock to that - I'd like to see a couple of rockers going at it to that one - mighty fast tune.

Will have to have a look for the other two.

Ohhhhhh nice!
Just got a Joseph Henry track called "I've never found a girl" on the Guide section of Windows Media Player.
Not the track you mentioned but I could see rocking to this one. Nice piece of music. Looking out for more of his stuff.

Just to be sure... Joseph Henry $ The Mighty Imperials... that the right one?

whats up stiff? i ve never heard of the mighty imperials but that dosent mean that joseph henry didnt record with them. and yes "kids" is a very fast song. and it would be difficult to rock to it all the way through but this is where your strategy comes in to play. for example if you listen to "get ready" form the group rare earth, not only is that song fast but its loooong.
like 20 minutes or something.
so if you were at a jam and a dj put that song on you were gonna dance the whole thing or if he cut that song early you got a break. you have to remember uprock djs used to play rock songs in threes for the apache lines. so if you wanted to participate in the line you better be prepared to dance three songs.

if you have anymore music questions let me know. on the new website we are gonna have music downloads as well. some will be free and some will be for a small fee.

Yea, Get Ready is pretty quick.
Never realised it was such a long one though. I've only got most tracks on mp3 and it's just shy of 3 minutes on my comp.

Dunno I could rock at that tempo just yet. Loving Rock Creek Park, great track, nice tempo - gonna have to work up to the likes of Rare Earth I think.
