King Uprock puts his title on the line!!! -
07-18-2008, 03:50 PM
Thats right, the King Uprock title will be up for grabs at this years anniversary!
Whoever wins the Uprock contest will then have a shot (if he or she chooses) at battling Ralph Casanova for his title of King Uprock. A little background on the history of the title and contest: "Uprock was taken very seriously by it's advocates and still the high stakes for Battling often included money, women, bragging rights, and Colors. Again, if you lost the Battle, you lost your nickname and your Crew name - this was the ultimate spoil. In 1980 the biggest title in Brooklyn was up for grabs. The title was "King Uprock". This Battle took place at the Yellow Sunshine Club, on Bushwick Ave. All the best Uprockers in Brooklyn came together to compete in this one contest. Among the Crews were; Touch of Rock, Lil Dave Rockers, Romantic Rockers, One on One Rockers, Rock with Class and Dynasty Rockers. Among the approximate 25 contestants were top Rockers such as; Cus, Duz, Noel, Lil Dave, Carlos, Danny Boy, Tony, Lil Eddie, Lil Tito, Lil Bebop, Andre and Kojak. This intense Battle went down to the wire and the last two Rockers were Lil Dave and Ralph Casanova aka "RC". The Battle was won by Ralph Casanova, who still holds the King Uprock title. So if you think you have the chops to take the title, come on down! This is a very real chance, if R.C. loses he will take off his colors on the spot!! No complaining, no fighting. And then the new King Uprock shall be crowned! Dynasty Rockers Est. 1973 |
