Great post and video courtesy of Tiny Love. Noel's style is very similar to what I learned originally as a shorty in East New York.

... heard him mention a dude named Mako, I wonder if it's the same Mako my cousin used to know back in the day. There was another guy too, don't remember his name, but he used to tear it up at the Oasis Roller Rink. Can't seem to grasp this type of uprocking though Buz, and that was one of the things I wanted to ask you. We were taught by the older guys to uprock a certain way, but it didn't resemble the rock dance though. We had burns, but they were different. Like we once discussed, the Ridgewood Jr's style more resembles the TOR style than ours does, so where did we grab our style from? Ozone Park, Howard Beach, Corona, Middle Village, Woodhaven, we were all rockin differently from Brooklyn rock, yet, we were only about 30 minutes away from you though. What happened?
Our uprock resembled this, so it had to come from somewhere, why so different in style...? |

was this mako lived in himrod st ..between central and evergreen...because that's where he lived.. his name was mike...
man that guy you are talking that used to tear it up in the Oasis his name Is Buz..lololol... but you are right there were some good rockers that went to the Oasis and there was also my partner Snoopy and Frank this italian kid he was a jr. tor back in the days .. and than there was Rc he also made some noise at the Oasis infact he won a rock contest there that I put up !! well the ridgewood juniors was a crw I started in 1981 and what ever they did was taught by me and some of the touch of rock that were around still doing there thing ... but that's good question about 15 minutes away with a different style..like that .. well what I think is that the fellors from that area where mixing there SPANK music dance you know that kick dance ...because them cats were not related the rock to the gangs of our time there history of rocking is way different from ours they use alot of the kick dance history connected to the rocking.....makes any sense... and the reason I say this is because I spend alot of time with them cats from the fun house where the dance kick dance was originated and than hit the streets and crashed in with rocking... buz touch of rock |
