its not that i hate him actually he has a good "Toprock" and great flava too..just wanna share my side..cuz the battlerock he showed is kinda different from what i know and most cats know...anyway if you just learned the battlerock from him..i respect that..

but from what i know the "battlerock" that most bboys do includin me is like a "jerk" from rockdance or what is commonly known as UPROCK...like most of the time battlerock is the manhattan style of uprock or manhattan jerk..

just dont wanna confuse those who are still learning these days..includin me...

cuz i know its allryt if some learn indian step as "cross step.cross over, or the two step" cuz thats really named alot differently by lots of cats long time ago until now for some reasons..but for naming battlerock to the regular toprock or the "hyped indian step" or "TOPROCK" itself like in "BBOY THE GAME" you can see that's the base move of the toprock...so for me its really far from the "Battlerock" ..we usually do battlerock as jerks with burns not just the regular "hyped toprock or indian step,crosstep" or watever

and if that's the case then i should have thought my students "battlerock"from the start rather than "toprock or indian step" when they just started and others who teach begginers aswell..and even those who thought me that move they should have told me that that is "battlerock" rather than "toprock or indian step"

and dude there's no toprock for battling ..normal toprock can be used on battling hahaha

Battlerock is totally used or done only for battling.and if you use that on cypher's or happy jams,sessions etc that means you're either burning or "battling" or "callin out" someone..haha thats why its totally different..hehe

cuz battlerock came from ROCKDANCE or where we are now "UPROCK".. to give you a brief education. ROCKING or UPROCK is a dance where you have an opponent so yeah its totally like fighting... in rocking there's no PEACE ..just after the face off..haha its totally all out war BATTLE..

I think what he meant that theres no specific type of toprock u use in a battle...
as in toprock as a whole can be used in a battle but not specific techs only meant for battles...
I dont think he ever meant that you dont toprock in battles

and dude you didnt understand what i said , wat i mean is that..every steps in toprock can be used in battling..there's no specific steps.you can even innovate aslong as the toprock or bboy essence is still there.. and i mean that "battlerock" or jerk is "specifically for battling or for use with your opponent..and if you do that in just cyphers,or jams without any opponent that means you're calling out someone or you wanna "battle" or burn some dude..unless you're doin it in practice thats ok..just dont do it infront or near someone cuz that usually means you're battling him

all your examples ; gibo, is what I hear called uprock. I never hear "uprock" interchanged with "battlerock".

well "battlerock" i think is particularly used term in "Bboyin" not in "UPROCK"...
becuase obviously we shouldnt be sayin in a battle (BBOY BATTLE in Particular) "HEY SHOW HIM "UPROCK" " because its a different new level ..i think its just that Bboys adapted a part of UPROCK which is the "JERK" which most bboys call "BATTLEROCK"

well if you want me to say something... i never heard of such a thing such as "battlerock" within bboyin to begin with... and to be honest now that the term is being mentioned... BBOY.ORG is the only place where i hear that term... hahaha...!! seriously...!! i read it a couple times but i just took it in a way where it's just aggressive toprock...

although lets see if i can clarify whats going on here... i believe the misconception is revolved around the term "battlerock"... i believe some people on this site just think of it as an aggressive form of toprock... and others can think of it as the jerks of uprock... or in their case "brooklyn" toprock or whatever not...

if someone would like to share where the term "battlerock" came from... please share... cuz seriously i never heard of such a thing...

Yeah that's why i posted this thread too to clear it up....yeah that's why also..people learned from tutorials in youtube think they know alot already..or yeah..that psp game..haha..i just wish i had one..never had one..the last i had is playstation 1.

and yeah i believe also that the term "battlerock" is not mostly heard..but i believe also that it exist or atleast the name exist ...i think i can still remember when rob was teaching us here in the philippines and we were just chatting..one of our homies here told him about battlerock because that's what we know as the manhanttan rock or jerk that we do in bboyin here since the 90's when the pinoneer's of bboyin here started and i think he know's that term "battlerock" as the jerk also that some bboys know ..you know rob.. yeah i only get to play that game using my classmates ps2..there are base moves i think thats what its called? here's what i remember : (X) is six step, (/\) is toprock, (circle) is Windmill (square) is baby freeze..so those are the first moves that you can do and excell from there and then eventually as you keep playin..that's where a lil headache will come..what i dont like the most with the game is not the game itself..but how the new generations approach to bboying itself according to that game...like i hate those who are saying they know alot just because they learned everything from that game ..

and yeah the first or the base "toprock" there is like "hyped indian step"..

i dont know why they just name it toprock cuz i think i know that that itself already has a name which is "BATTLEROCK" for Bboy Byu which i am confused of...
