Any Questons About Uprock/rock Dance??? - 05-13-2009, 02:32 AM

Yo...

I know alot of new people have been hitting up this forum lately, so i thought this would be a good chance to reach out to everybody and ask if you guys got any questions about what rocking is, how it's done, where it's from etc.... anything.

Remember there are no stupid questions, but try to skim through the forums the best you can so we don't end up going over something that has been done on an older thread. We have some great resources such as King Uprock, Breakeasy, PJAY71, BUZ that all hit up this forum as well as new guys from cali, brasil, and poland. SOOO lets see if we can get some knowledge spread and info out there!

peace

i have an issue with both breaking and rocking. it is the burn. you can break without burns, but it seems rocking requires them. when i break down the meaning behind these movements, i think that they are essentially obscenities or imaginary forms of violence manipulated to the beat of a song. does rocking have to be so literal or explicit in this way? if i had an uprock foundation, could i teach this dance to a group of youngsters without a guilty conscience? also, i haven't heard of a single female rocker. what's up with that?

yo thats a good question...!! burning is an essential part of uprock... along with freestyling and jerks... as for the meaning of it i dont think of it as obsenities or imaginary violence... although they are but i treat them as ways of humiliating my opponent while humoring everyone else... im goofy when i burn... its like bugs bunny vs elmer fudd kind of thing... seriously...!! haha...!!

as for teaching... i recommend its best you get your blessings first and kno what this dance is all bout... and remember every specific dance is not meant for anybody...

as for the female rockers... you havent heard cuz ure not even looking...!! haha... check out the list that hdt made of worldwide rockers... if youre talking older generations who are active still... there goes i believe her name was "eve"...? coreect me on this danny or pjay... shes part of vii gems and fmds... and of course theres others...

hope that helps... peace...!!

BBoy serious- Your question is about breaking not rocking, the dance ROCK. Big difference try and read thru this forum and i am sure you will see what i mean.

K1ng...Yes there are female rockers, not alot but back in the day in the BK there were alot even whole female rock crews. I would love to see more female rockers but as of now there aren't alot of rockers out there period, much less girl rockers. Maybe King Uprock, PJAY71 or Buz could talk more about the female rockers from back in the day and how they danced??!?!?!

About the burns, well you could do less violent forms such as pie in the face or something....but it all comes back to where this dance is from and who originated it. It was created by outlaw gangsters in New York, who lived a violent lifestyle so the dance is a reflection of that. As far as obscenties and stuff i do know rockers that don't do all the gross burns because they don't like it, but the still do violent stuff.

As far as uprock foundation and teaching, I mean that's really up to you to decide, i think alot of people teach stuff while not always mastered the subject yourself, i mean you can always preface your class with i can only show you what i know or understand and you should do more research on the dance. I myself did not feel comfortable teaching until i had studied and practiced this dance for years and proved myself on the apache line. Use your best judgement.

aight....

Tons of different burn styles, but yes you can burn while freestyleing, or burn while doing jerks, or burn while burning!!!!hahaha. Naw...of course there are differnt ways to burn a person and techniques such as telling a story with a burn or simply just pretending to hit a guy in his face.
