Yeah. Well, I've just been what you could say is bboying for a little over 2 weeks now...
I'm just learned the "Kick step" and this side step thing from Choi and BBoy Yell-O's vids. And I know what you're probably thinking right now.."You gotta make up your own toprocks along the way" and all that jazz...
Well, I just wanted to start off with some foundation is all, so...yeah.
Anyway, please excuse the uh...sloppy 6 step and random stuffs... Still working on transitions + fluidity.

---original two videos taken down due to....embarassment. xP----
If you really wanna see how bad I was...then...take a look at my channel.

Whoah. . .

You guys look like you've got a lot more confidence than me in toprockin'.
Lawl. Y'see, I wanna get to the point where I can toprock kinda like that. Not worried too much about what moves to use next. Just to like...freestyle.

Anyway. Liked that lil backslide thing...1:11. xD
And the lil sign of the cross thing. Looks like you add alot of your own personality into it. Which I want. XP

Actaeon-I would concentrate on hitting on the beat. And this is more of a personal thing, but I'd wear shoes (I think it looks funny when ppl toprock with socks on) But yea, it looks like ur heading in the right direction.

Ah. Well, I've been practicing with shoes since it seems to help me slide around the floor for my footwork. Ahah.
Plus it kinda threw off my balance when I was working on crickets, so yeah. I'll try the shoe thing again.

Actaeon,

your toprock could use a little more variations.
i'm just a beginner and i'm now working on my toprocks.
try to feel the music and hitting the beat.
i will be hard at first but just relax.
just don't give up.
keep breaking(:

peace.

Just gotta figure out how to "hit the beat"

It's kind of hard concept but it's really just dancing to the rhythm. If you see a lot of bboys who have raw footage (no music over and they're recording with a stereo,) you should see them hitting the "beat" or whatever instrument int he music.

You're only on day 2, so don't fret. You've still got a crapload of time to learn; just try slower songs and you know when you bob your head sometimes when you listen to music? I think that's when you should be hitting the beat with your toprock. It's all about your musicality; just keep it up.

I recommend Def Cut - Fresh; because they rock the bass, and the snare on that one. You can definitely go with it and just try it out. It's a really fun song, too.

Ah. Gotcha.
I'll try to put that into my mindset.

Oh, and as for the song...couldn't find it on YouTube...
Any chance you have an mp3 posted somewhere?

Ahah. Thanks for the track!
I tried it again today. And...here's what I came up with. Though...I think I butchered your track... ><;
But I still needa work on it...plus the hands aren't what I want 'em to be.

The top looks a little better but you missed a lot of beats in the beginning of the first song. As for footwork, used your inner knuckles and not flat hands.Thats right get on them fingers man, its gonna hurt when you first start doing it but your fingers will get used to it after you keep doing it. Also try learning 6 step in 1 direction. I used to go in circles as well when i started. All in all pretty good for just 2 weeks but work on the form and keep on practicing. Worry about style later.

You're welcome for the track; and it looked like you were TRYING to hit the beat; keep trying and keep bboying. Keep up with the toprock practice, and it looked like you were getting closer to it. The first track though; if you wanted to hit those beats you'd have to move a lot faster.

Keep progress up, man.

Aight, thanks.
It's been two straight days of toprock ( I dunno, I've just been too tired for freezes + footwork) so, I think I gotta mix things up a bit.
