i used to be an avid DDR'er and i have to say that i picked up some movements that really did help with my toprock.
specifically, the parts of the game that require you to turn in lots of different directions/positions to most efficiently score arrows.
novices usually look awkward playing harder songs because they haven't mastered energy-efficient coordination. (more efficiency = more energy conserved)
when I played DDR, i didn't just try to hit the arrows---a lot of people "A" MAX 300 but rarely look graceful doing so. so when i play, i tried to actually dance a little.
that being said, DDR doesn't improve toprock---but it does expose people to different types of movement which can be very similar to toprock.
^^^ yes this is true but i was rlly good at DDr before i started breaking and my top rock looked like i was playing DDr soo...yea i dono it might help mabey just a tad
Well... I guess if you play on challenge mode or some superfast mode it won't help too much since its just a game of hitting the countless arrows... not really the beats, but I guess it can help you in some ways.
Though, Pump it Up does. Pump it Up (another dance rhythm game similar to DDR but released in Korea at the same time as DDR in Japan) expands the movements to a broader board instead of just stomping on 4 panels. It features real hip hop/rock from Korea, France, America, and many others.
As stated, it's actually Pump it Up, not DDR. DDR is a 4 panel game from japan with house music. Pump it Up is a 5 panel game from korea with real music.
