toprock, in general - 08-11-2006, 02:55 AM

although the steps of this move is pretty simple, its not easy to do YOUR toprock. Take this tip very seriously:
-NEVER EVER do the steps, make it one fluid motion!!!! Add your style as you toprock and when you uprock as well. Toprock/uprock is what seperates us bboys/bgirls from each other. Anybody can do the regular steps, but once you've mastered that, put YOUR attitude into the move.

I'd rather see someone who could toprock/uprock, and some footwork but can't even handspin then someone who can do airflares/tracks, spinning flags, and all that other seemingly impossible moves but can barely even move to the beat right.

Everything is a process, breakdancing is no different.

...Uprock is its own dance and separate from bboying.

People should learn steps before they combine it, otherwise you end up with a load of sloppy tops and not much originality to it.

Some of what you said is all right i guess, but you seem to be sorta misinformed about some things.

Peace

Yea da basics shuld be learned first...but even den u shuld be thinkin about how u can take a BASIC indian step, n' add ya own lil flair into it...whether its thru da arms or wuteva! Den again i'm a wannabe stylehead/footwork fanatic.....so im always look fo' ways to add some flair in!
