I'm not sure if you noticed but there are two skip steps and both are aka hopskotch. Not trying to be anal or anything but I think the second one is the latin rock.

Since you don't have a camera, do you have/know any place to get some clips that show the moves? I don't quite understand the skip step. Which way do u hop? Which way do u kick the legs and which legs do u kick? I don't really think u can kick both legs unless ur jumping.

Just a nube trying to learn . Preciate the guid a lot.

Yeah, it was a typo. Sorry about that.

And you're right, you're not actually kicking both legs. It is more of a hop. Your feet are together then you hop up and spread your legs, then hop back to your regular position and back out. That's basically it. I'll try and clarify all the tutorials more a little later.

If anyone else is confused, please ask questions. I'll try to clarify as best I can until I can get a hold of a camera.

I'll be getting a new one around December but until then, I might try and rent one from my school to get the footage if I have time.

Great Tutorial, I had never known any of these names but I think I can identify what these steps are. It is very hard to translate a movement (a specific one at that!) into words so that someone can read and then do.

The Cross Step is seen everywhere and if you haven't seen it then you haven't even seen bboying yet, so everyone should find that one a breeze to understand.

The Back Step is fairly straight forward as well, but I think there is definite confusion when it comes to trying to understand the Skip Step and the Latin Rock Step from written words. Even seeing it in a clip or on a video doesn't transfer correctly into peoples minds sometimes.

But I have a question about the Latin Rock, is that the step that Wak One does in the DynastyRockers clip? It's his main sort of step that he leans back on to keep himself in rythm. He switches it up plenty but thats what I'm picturing the Latin Rock to be based on your definition and the fact that I had learned that step before from friends.

Plus I'm wondering since you say the Outlaw is a cross between the Back Step and the Latin rock I'm wondering if it's that step that Wak throw's in alternation with the Latin rock.

I think some people are finding confusion with the skip step, actually even I am. Just because its hard to picture it. Are you talking about the one that is kinda like the Running Man except you do it from side to side, right to left?

I don't know of any clips off the top of my head that shows it, but I think that is what you're referring to? It's a very quick 1, 2 1, 2 step.

IF that isn't the hopscotch thennn I would like to know what that one is because that step has great versatility too. You can throw in kicks before you step out with the leading foot. Making it into a 1, 2 3, 4 step instead.

But whatever, if you're not sure what i'm talking about at all i don't blame ya.. Just thought you might be the one to answer my questions Alpha. Or maybe PJay would know the names of these steps.. He should be at least able to clarify the steps that wak one does in the clip.

Excellent clip for example...that is if you're talking about Wak One vs. Dan Deuce. Ok...at about 30 seconds, Wak One is doing what I call the Outlaw. Where he kicks and then steps his his left foot behind his right.

From about 22-25 seconds he's doing what I call the Latin Rock.

As for skip step, it sounds like you have a pretty good idea for what it's like. It is a very fast style. I still haven't found a good clip to show an example.

I'm self taught so I don't really have a teacher that I can site. The names I learned from a bunch of different sources so it's debateble whether a lot of the names are accurate. As for history, some of it from Freshest Kids, some from Mr. Wiggle's website, and some of it from hearing old school b-boys talking about it.
