Learning style - 05-06-2004, 01:32 AM

Ummmm.... I just started breaking after watching countless breakers rip up the floor. One thing I noticed is that some bboys got crazy ass toprocks... which is a LONG ways from the basic steps.

How do you learn style... with all that flashy hip and hand movements... does it come in time, does it just click? do you have to adopt style and alter it? Any tips to flow to the beat better?

down 4 whatever...

you dont adopt style, it just is, u just hit the beat and go with it, and express yourself through the dance, personally my toprock is my mosty worked upon move, then my downrock and everything else, your toprock will find you, just do what feels natural to the beat and practice all the time, nto a give set of toprocks, but instead just moven to the beat

nah man, this is your tops man. People cant have a say in this. There is no right or wrong way. You wanna stay on beat ofcourse. But get creative with it. I would suggest not to learn a series of steps, you dont wanna get stuck tryin to think of things to go along with that. You gotta do you. Step across, throw a leg back, do a knee drop whatever. You wanna bust some Jamaican style ish in there, do so, its your tops man. Peeace.

I will now attemp to drown myself, you can try this at home, you can be just like me.-Slim

when you start to toprock just do some basic steps, then flow into your own style

style= move to the beat in your most creative, comfortable way

thats how i learned to toprock really good
