indian step tutorial - 02-27-2004, 01:20 PM

so i've had quite a few people ask me what indian step is

indian step is one of the common tops- you may know it by another name, or you may not know it. In any case, here's how to do it

we'll say you're starting with your right leg

kick out on your right leg, then step back on it, cross your left leg over your right and twist your hips slightly , then step back on your right leg, lifting your left
now hop back on your right leg while kicking out on your left leg, cross your right leg over your left and twist your hips slightly, then step back on your left leg, lifting your right ... continue

that's the basic step
you can twist your hips a lot or a little, lift your back leg... or not, do whatever you want to with your arms
but that it indian step... basics

see the clip for a visual demonstration

you must have been a bgirl.... because the only moves that you pulled on me were heartbreakers

- the visionaries

good ways to tweak this one are to get caught in one part of the step, so you repeat the crossover a few times, or just go kick step cross step with no hop so you're always kicking the same leg

vary the heigth of your back leg, try to grab the foot with your hand (you could thread from there if you wanted i guess )

just some ideas

here's a clip with variations

Man, thanks a lot, great descriptions and everything. I'm sure it'll be a lot of help, but I can't get the vid to work. Can you double check and make sure it's working for you?

save target as ( or download link to disc, whatever one it gives you )
rename the ending as attatchment.mpg instead of attatchment.php

Pretty dope!

Ah! Dangit, is there any way to attain that mix's music at any DJ shops or anything? I love that song on the "replacement tops" clip you have... AHHHHHH!

Anywho, are you able to tell me the name of the group? Much appreciated. Pretty, pretty please!! I'll do anything! ANYTHING!

Uh.. yeah!
