Just relax and do what comes natural. No one can tell you how to develop your style, it just comes. Just keep practicing and you'll eventually start to understand. It's just one of those things that cannot be taught.

Copying from Vid -
02-22-2004, 03:28 PM
It depends on what movie you're copying...if its the basic toprock vid dont worry, its there to teach you the basics, its there to be copied. But if its someone elses personal toprock vid, dont.
If you're having trouble developing your toprock, just go to a room where you have lots of space, and a mirror could be useful too.Just put up some good music and let yourself flow with the music.Toprock is all about your own style so if you have developed ur own style, you aint biting... |

It's alright to bite if you're just startin out and don't really know what you're doin yet. But once you start gettin better, you should start doin your own stuff, and if you feel the need to try some cool thing that someone else does, then you should change it a bit or add something that'll make it unique. Once you get good, you won't need any inspiration from others, though.

u can practice your own style by doing a toprock differently na mean? like me, i been tryna come up with my own style.. just realized that i keep doing the same thing, like top rock for example, and i just do it differently. if you're tryn not to bite someone else's toprock, don't pay too much attention to how/what they're doing.. juss keep doing your basic toprock adding and subtracting random moves.. right now.. i feel re-re when doing mine.. i feel like it's wrong.. or something.. i get all stuck and shit, like what else could i add.. but just keep doing the basic and adding different things.. like instead of going just left and right, go side to side or front and back.. egh, hard to explain, easier shown than said, but yeahhh.. hopefully that somewhat helps!!!

go download videos of people toprocking and WATCH THEM
anyways...then go and don't look at any mirror or anything. Turn on some music and just dance...the moves come easier... |

Vin Diesel and the Internet - relation? I THINK SO
Vin Diesel invented the internet while trying to steal cable TV. Contrary to popular belief, it was in fact Vin Diesel who invented the internet. Al Gore stole the designs when Vin fell asleep at his keyboard. http://www.4q.cc/vin/index.php |

copying basic toprock steps is NOT biting
if you're a newb, watching things and practicing what you see will only help you, and your style will be so far off from any pro bboy that it won't look much like then ANYHOW ( Deal with it ) check out my replacement and indian step guides, learn those steps, then see how you can put the stuff all together |

Biting is biting, but when you learn from others to develop your own style... that's not biting.
This all goes to the concept of being "creatively innovative". This means that you're not being fully innovative, but you're taking what others have done, analyze them, and develop something of your own. We all learn from what's been done in the past. Even if someone says they created something totally, new... chances are, someone else has done something nearly the same before. Anyhow, don't worry if people romp on you... unless you truly do bite. Engyn. |
|
The important thing is... is that at anytime we can sacrifice what we are now for what we can become.
