************************ The object of the headswipe is to rotate your body around the outer edge of your head. To do this you must throw your body up while simultaneously using your arms to rotate around your head. This may sound difficult but it's actually very easy. The video's at the bottom.* Polar K's Headswipe Guide * ************************ Starting Position Get on your back as if you were about to do backrocks. This means that you want to be on your upper back with your lower back and your butt up in the air. Raise the leg opposite to the hand you stab with. That means if you stab with your right hand, lift your left leg in the air. Your right leg should be bent with your foot firmly on the ground. The Launch and the Rotation The trick to getting headswipes is height, arching your back and actually getting on your head. Wind up your arms in preparation to spin your upper body. Use your right leg to push off the ground. At the same time throw your left leg in the air. The higher you go the better. When you feel your body going up, arch your back. Only your head should be touching the ground. If you pushed off hard enough you should feel as if you are doing a head bridge. *Practicing head bridges will help you get this move. If being on your head hurts though, try wearing a beanie. The rotation is done at the same time as the launch. As you push off the ground with your foot, use your arms to twist your upper body to the left. It may help to keep your left arm low to the ground so it can sweep under your body easily. As your upper body rotates your legs will rotate as well. Use your hands to catch yourself to stab. Final step is scissoring your legs for the baby or getting into the chair freeze. *Continuous headswipes can be done by rolling to your back as soon as you stab and get your right foot on the floor as fast as you can to push off again. Another variation is tapping both feet on the ground when you roll to your back done by Ronnie and Storm. or http://www.bboy.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=65685 This is my first guide so I’m open to comments. If you have any questions feel free to ask. |

I got a question.
Doing head bridges hurt like a bitch when I get on my head. The pressure is kinda high. What can I do to get used to it? Does wearing a beanie help? |

I suggest learning to stab on both arms. Start by trying to hold a baby on your weak hand. Do it everyday and you'll have it in no time.
