proper starting stance? - 12-24-2006, 03:37 AM

I've been trying to learn swipes for a while, and every swipe video I've seen has the bboy starting in a crouch/crab position, on their toes. However, I can't get any lift or air when starting that way, I find that keeping the feet flat and putting more weight on the hands lets me get my legs higher. But when I do that I can't link swipes because I can't jump from one hand to the other. What's the correct stance for starting swipes and if its the one where you are on your toes then how do you create enough lift to get the legs up (right now I can barely jump)?
Thanks

mmm I think you should keep trying starting them from "your toes", it harder, but that way you can link them and go master swipes..im having that same problem

There is no "correct" stance for starting swipes, i start mine differently every time. But if you are just learning basic swipes, you should start in a 1 handed bridge. so that ur hips will already be up, and u can just switch hands, and continue with the swipe.
