few beginner question about handspin -

hello, everyone,
I just started doing my handspin and I have few problems, hopefully you guys can help me.
1. everytime I rest my body on my elbow, I feel it stabbing my pelvis instead of what so called midsection of my stomach. is that normal or i am going the wrong direction
2. do you always need a glove or knee pad or whatever on your hand, coz I saw someone just use their bare hands.
3. is there any workout that you can do to improve the stablity of my handspin and cricket? coz when i am doing it. I just wiggling a lot.
