headspins - how long does it take? - 01-06-2008, 03:05 AM

how long did it take you guys to learn headspins up to the point where you could stop tapping for a few seconds at least?

i wanna start learning this move as a kinda side focus since i recently got mills.

Depends on your motivation and what equipment or lack thereof that you choose to use.

Barehead will most likely be hardest to learn to get consistent headspins with fewer taps in between. Especially if you have long hair.

Beanie, honestly I've never been great with the headspin beanies, but they do reduce friction significantly.

Helmet, with a helmet you can usually get a few rounds without tapping often within your first month if you work hard.

it took me a year. i suggest using a helmet when preparing your body and mind for how it feels to rotate. helmets give you good balance and it doesnt hurt to keep practicing them over and over. ive gotten over 10 rotations using a helmet without taps

use a helmet, then try beanies. never do bare head.

when i used a helmet, my friend helped me out, and i can do a few taps and a few rotations. then i started with the beanie and it started to get easier.

in my opinion, about 3-4months if youre determined. if your lazy like me then it might take longer

its not how good you are its how you make it look

i'll start using a helmet so i can drill my headspins... no pun inteded :P

when you transfer from helmet to beanie, is it a lot harder? Will the balance be a lot different, or should i be able to adjust quickly?

Yeah, skating/BMX helmets, but I prefer spinning on my bare head... If you're just starting to learn headspins, just worry about learning how to tap, and keep tapped headspins going.

"..But I never pre-heat, I toss the pizza right in the oven and say, 'Pre-heat this, bitch'.."

An Indian step, to a knee drop, to a six step, to a three step, to a baby freeze does not equal style, so don't diss power because you don't have any... They are both important.
