do headspins stunt your growth? -
01-30-2007, 11:21 PM
Hey I was just asking if headspins stunt your growth because your putting all your weight on your neck lol i don't know, but do you think it could stunt your growth cause i'm short enough as it is (just turned 15 and i'm only 5'4")

This thread isn't asking how tall+old you are..
He's asking if it stunts your growth.
Personally I wouldn't know because I don't know if I'm capable of growing any more and I haven't increased in height that much since I started head spins.
I doubt that it'll have any effects on your growth. That's like saying "if I did hand stands, would my arms get shorter because I'm putting weight on it?"
I think its hilarious how people on this site have a huge "moves list" of BS crap that they can't do and they also have no videos at all to back them up.

if you're 15 you're likely to keep growin... headspins do kinda munch the spinal column but i dun think it would have any serious effects as long as you dun do anything stupid like bouncin on your head or goin for advanced techs too soon... bottom line is... dont overdo it.

I'm thinking it's the same as working out with free-weights. The only real way I believe it would stunt your growth is if you do it wrong (form-wise). And you probably don't want to only do headspins and headstands all day, lol. If I'm not mistaken, your growth (when it comes to your spinal bones) really occurs mostly in your spine in the back of the torso.
My suggestion, ask a chiropractor! It makes better sense to ask a trained pro.
My knowledge on the subject goes just about as far as what I just said. By the way, I'm 17 and 5'11''...SHORTIES!!! (except for GrizzlyBear of course), lol
half of y'all are probably twice as good as I am at breakin' anyways, lol.

That's why the best headspinners are midgets, they've been practicing since pre-puberty.

lol funny cuz its true... o.o
im pretty sure it will slow down your growth, since theres alot of pressure on your spinal cord and. like that other guy said, dont overdo and you should be fine

in ur spinal cord there are disks between the bones (vertebrate? sp?) that i think act as a cushion, so i don't think it would stunt ur growth...but doing alot of headspins can mess up the disk in ur neck so THAT'S something you would have 2 worry about.

Very true. I also heard about that. I think I'll stop doing them.
