Neck Problems - This is serious - 12-19-2006, 06:59 PM

I've been practicing this since the begining of december and the sides of my neck are going crazy. like sometimes, i move them to the side, and they crack, JUST LIKE MY KNUCKLES DO. They never did that before (and ive tryed)

Now i have neck pain.

Also, my back cracks like knuckles too eversince i started headspins.

(and yes i do stretch my neck out before and after practicing them)

DOES THIS HAPPEN TO YOU?

this is serious if its permanent. I really need your help. I just want to know if this is common side effects (like diarrhea when you take creatine(i never take drugs, just using creatine as an example because my friend got diarrhea from it))

Should I:
A. Stop practicing Headspins until the pain stops
B. Rest a week or two then start again regardless of what happens
C. Keep doing them
D. go to a doctor
E. Stop cracking my neck and back
F. Two of the above
G. Three of the above
H. Four of the above
I. All of the above

THANKS FOR YOUR OPINION

The same exactly thing happened to me. It used to be cracking alone, but I kept going for a week or 2 more then I coudn't tilt my neck on the right. I stopped for a week or 2 (All breakdancing) and now it's gone... I been doing headspins again lately I won't overdo it this time.

Don't listen to that guy, just lay off the headspins 2 weeks. Being able to crack your spine is not a bad thing.

Take a break and stretch your body daily instead of practicing your moves - especially your neck. Once it feels better and you think you're ready to try again, go for it. If it doesn't work, contact a doctor.

when u started, ur neck might not hav been strong enuf, and u practiced too much too fast. hurting ur neck is a scary thing, so allow sore muscles to get unsore before u start up again

i dont know what to do,

i don't do headspins but i can crack with my neck,
like my friend did all the time like in movies,

i don't feel any pain when i crack with my neck, and
i don't think that the problem is in the cracking,
the problem is in the muscles
if it hurts better visit a doctor, it's your designion
but i would of visit a doctor if it really hurts

your neck is one of the most crucial parts of your body... it houses a major part of your brain stem, not to mention parts of the nerves that run down your spinal column... if you f*ck up your neck, you may very well become paralyzed... do NOT risk your life even if it DOES feel better... go see a doctor rite away
