Where do you guys get your helmet? -
07-05-2005, 05:22 AM
I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I've been using a damn biking helmet that hurts my head. I want one of those rounder all purpose extreme helmets with a decent amount of padding inside. Problem is when I go to stores that have them (Dicks, randoms skating stores), all the helmets have air holes on the top. The air holes are big and right where I want to be spinning. I can't find any helmets without holes on the top now, don't know if they make em. I don't feel like buying online, anybody know of any stores, or can tell me where they got theirs?
thanks.
Alright Dave. Here it is. You in the club, and you is dancin. Then you slip on a banana peel, and your face lands in some doo doo ::splat::. Then you rollin around in the doo doo, and you is all sticky right. And I come and I step over you in my gator loafers.

Well buttercup, if there is like 2 inch square holes right in the center where you should spin, you won't be spinning on a point, but on the 4 sides of the hole, and you would be rolling in and out of the holes when spinnign to make an irregular spin. But its cool, I found a bell bike helmet with the holes on the side, not center, which works.

Sighs People Helmets are good for learning and doing headspins but learn to do them with a beenie, bandana or maybe just your head.
But to answer your question, go to a sports store or a kids store like Toys R Us or KB Toys. Im sure they have helmets.
Ok Peeps use the SEARCH! Fuction before you make a thread.
COMMON WORDS TO SEARCH:
Junior, Im New, Im a Noob, Cardboard, Lino, How To BBOY, Krumping, C-Walking, DVD, Red Bull BC 1, Breakdancing, Flexibility, How to Headspin, How To Flare, BBOY Clothes, How to Windmill, How to Balance, Am I Gay?, Mike Garcia, BBOY Games, BBOYing Songs, Breakdance Music and ETC
P.S. Im The Search Nazi xD

I used to practice my headspins on beanies but after maybe 20 minutes, I would always take off my beanie and there would be a spot of blood on my beanie (yeah, not pleasant). I can do a few rotations, but if you want to learn to pump forever, you got to stay on your hands and push like half hour a day for a while. You got to get your neck muscles real strong, and get balance perfect, and hands perfect.
As for headspins being overated, I def dissagree, out of all the b-boys i know, very few can do headspins, and almost none i know can do continuos pushing. I think they are way cooler looking than like airtrax or flares too, and there is alot to do with them if your good. They're not overrated just because they're quinntessential bboy move.
And for buying the helmet, its not that I couldn't find the skate helmets, I found tons of brands everywhere, but virtually all new brands have the holes, I don't think they sell em without big air holes on the top. But its cool, I found one with holes on the side.

Spicy meat ball if your wearing a beanie and your head starts bleeding after you spin, I dont think thats natural. Think you should consult a doctor.

hey I practice on helmet, but I use beanie in showing off.... my helmet spins great on the floor, and comfortable...I baught it from a breakdance and urban clothing shop...but I found it in many sports shops in the skate boarding area...It's not important how it looks like, but It should have the top flat, not like the one of a sprint bicycle...anyway go check out the pic.

that should be fine....
