Stringing Ground to air moves - 01-26-2006, 05:35 PM

String air to ground combos (flare to windmill, airflare to windmill) is easier that ground to air combos (windmill to flare, windmill to airflare)

*G 2 A = ground to air

This is obvious because you are fighting against gravity and not going with it. if you are having trouble with string G 2 A combos, you can try these

1) arm strength - most G 2 A combos are heavily reliant on arm strength.

2) concentrate - just because you focusing alot on pushing, doesn't mean you should neglect technique. you must still swing legs, arms exe.

3) try learning easy G 2 A combos first like turtle to handstand/nike, then you can learn the harder ones like mills to flare.

4) first complete your g 2 a moves before doing your a 2 g moves so you will not become tired during practice or sessions. you get more props for G 2 A moves because of the more skill required.

5) arm and abdominal strength is crucial for G 2 A. you must flex for better and easier transitions. the more flexed you are, the less you have to worry about pushing. speed is also a factor. usually the faster you go, the easier it is to make the transition, but it also means you'll be more unstable, making it easier to bail.

time for tom's tips.
cuz alliteration is dope.

i think that little guide or whatever it was was a bit too focused on the strength. yeah you could power it, but that's ghey and looks ugly.

i really wanna stress the technique about it. let's use mill>flares for simplicity. yeah, you gotta push up to get to flares, but really, you're not pushing up that much OR that hard for that matter. the REAL trick is this..when you're pushing up, don't think about the pushing and think about doing a fucking flare.

most kids think it's all about the pushing and forget to throw their hips to keep going and that produces a low wack flare. no good.

when you master the technique..you won't even have to stab before you go into flare. and that looks sexy.

I did say you should focus on technique as well (tip 2). after a while, stabbing is actually the last thing on your mind, but is the main deal when learning.
