to me,the difference between express and impress is the attitude of it. When you want to express,u would want to show everybody,the beauty of the art,the difficulty of the art,and so,u will link them properly unknowingly because u want everything beautiful that links smoothly!!
when u want to impress,the attitude is "ya,that hot chick is coming in my direction,i m giong to do some "breakdancing" in front of her and woo hoo,then she will lyk me and i will then persuade her to do some ****job for me lol" Then, people who wants to impress ppl would only do the so called "difficult stuffs" and they wont bother linking since they think the "difficult stuff" alone is enuf.
And yeah,doesnt mean a person who dances in the middle of the street is a show off-er,but it just depend,like if that guy is only trying to express,ya,he will juz do it in a corner where there is alot of space. If that guy is trying to impress,he will just pull everybody in to see what he does(and yeah,normally those impressers fall badly in the end XD)
but it doesnt mean bboy cant show off,because if u dont show off,i wonder how u even know "breakdance" in the first place(think about it,u know it when someone did it right?) Then what is this art for? lol

Depends who you are trying to impress? In a club simply toprocking looks awesome as 98% of people in most clubs (well in my area in the UK) can't dance to save their lives and so anything that looks remotely good makes you stand above the rest :-)
but seriously ima go out on a limb and say most bboys were at least partially motivated to start by the need to impress people but as long as thats replaced eventually by the love of the art and the need to impress your self your fine i bboy 4 myself one day i wanna be able to win jams not for the props or the cheers but for the pride id bring to my self and my crew
well i dnt really advise bboying only to look "cool" but anywayz i guess it would be an L-kick or Nike freeze,i mean all u really need to kno is a cartwheel
i started bboying bc i saw other people do it. i was captivated by it so i started so i can be like them. after but a 1 year and a half im in love with it now. if i dont practice at least an hr a day it doesnt feel rite

1. if you are gonna do something to look impressive just coindrop into the tombstone

2. on the discussion of why people start it isnt always to impress i started because its in the family my uncle and my dad did it and they taught me once i could walk and talk and my friends just started because they love the music and they love to dance not impress
