I honestly started after watching Electric Boogaloo. Hell yea, that movie is old, but it was the shit. Or, I think that is what that movie is called. lol. It's been awhile since I've seen it.
But one power move is boring without anything else to go into. Kinda like shooting a basketball in the air and it not going through the hoop..lol.

Come on yall, no matter your reason for Bboying, anyone who keeps doing it is for their love. If you quit it wasn't meant for you. If your reason for starting was cuz you wanted attention, or if you rreason was cuz you wanted to just know the art and become something then whatever. No matter what, any true Bboy is a bboy becuase they break for the love of breaking becuase breaking becomes a part of them. So lets not hate cuz of the way we start, cuz we all end up being the same if we're meant to break cuz we love doing it. Now homie as for an easy move to learn, I'd probably go with the worm like ds2k said. It was the first move i learned and that was....5 years ago lmao.

im starting up because it looks like fun, same reason i started skateboarding when i was younger, but now i cant afford that kind of stuff. so i guess flipping around is cheaper. but it looks like a blast, it will help me keep in shape, and i guess i can impress but it doesnt matter to me to impress seeing as i already have a girlfriend

Man, this is a hilarious topic. I do think it was a bit hasty to ask something like this, I mean, I don't plan on jamming at the club until I can do at least 1 or 2 powermoves. (although I think footwork is important, thats what I am focusing on right now). And I don't want to "show off" and then get owned by someone who knows I'm full of it. But I am interested in airtracks, only because I don't know what they are, I'll check it out. That tombstone thing sounds friggin retarded, like a fish flopping around out of water.
Anyway, I started bboying this week, mainly because it looks cool, it's impressive, it's athletic, and I want to show off. Not to sound like a rookie, but just being honest. I have been popping for years, and I started that because I love dancing and I love when a song comes on and I can do some amazing stuff to it(usually learned from a music video). It was cool for everyone to stand around and watch, feels good. Anyone who says that feeling isn't cool is lying...or dead.
But bboying is also about accomplishment for me. I want to push my body to new hieghts and do things with it that I never knew possible. I did a head stand yesterday and held it for a bit, not the coolest thing, but I never knew I had it in me. Stuff like that is great.

j-bird you're an idiot, man. when most people start getting into bboying, especially when they have no one else to teach them besides the internet, they probably saw it for the powermove. and they probably called it breakdancing. i'm defending swiper cuz that's how it was for me.
after going to jams and really immersing myself into hip hop, you know, that's where the love comes from. you shoulnd't be hating like that, cuz that's not what hip hop is about. if you knew ANYTHING about hip hop, you'd know that it's a POSITIVE culture. so you're supposed to steer away from all the negativity, such as hating, gangsterism, yadda yadda yadda, and turn it into something positive through the medium of hip hop.

I agree completely, he is being far to critical to someone who is being honest about why he started bboying.
I don't like the elitist attitude, I see it all the time at my video game forum, and a bit of it since I have joined up here(although I love this site) everyone has to start somewhere and as a longtime hip hop dancer, I agree that it is an INCREDIBLY positive and open-minded culture, that attitude does not reflect what we represent.
And what the f*ck is up with him cussing Swiper out and calling him a fat bitch and whatnot? Shit like that should not be tolerated unless both parties are taking part. It's called flaming, and it's fucking retarded.

learn six step and four step and put them together really quickly with transitions each way. I would say that looks pretty decent.

I just joined this forum today because I wanted to find some bboy dudes/dudettes in new Zealand. I lived in chi-town for 5 years now I moves here. Kinda boring here primarily cause I have no friends here yet. Anyway Ilearned bboying cause I always move with my parents ( I lived in London, Moscow, chi-town, LA, and now I’m here) and I needed something that I cn do anywhere I go. And bboying was the perfect thing cause it’s al aound the world and I meet people with whole different styles and collect lots of music to break to
