so i was just wondering, when you freestyle, do you think of something first before and then do it or do you make it up as you go?

I'm pretty sure you make it up as you go. That's what the name says to me, but you migh wanna hang out for one of the more experienced bboys to pop by and answer. Why did I answer then? Well, my e-peen told me to.

U pretty much make it up as you go. I mean in a battle and everythang, you have some time to think about wut u might like to do, but once u actually throw down it never goes as planned haha. Freestylin kinda goes like dis: As your doin one move your already thinkin about the next one. Dat way u can transition smoothly and flow wit it ya kno? At a more basic lvl, all of the moves you bust freestyle are moves you've already done before, or are already familiar wit. Once u get better tho, u start bustin moves you never thought of or never done before. THATS when it gets dope!

lol. yea i understand what you're sayin. i remember somehow in one of my sets i busted out a headspin drill (only like 1-2 rotations and it was really bad) which i never knew i was able to do. hahaha havent really done it since

Lots of bboys practice these little combos that they throw into their freestyle. Little combos meaning stuff that could be like get up -> sweep -> knee drop -> baby freeze -> sweep ...imagine it how you like because terminology is different, but it's those combos that bboys add to their sets when they're freestyling...

I dunno about doing stuff you've never done in a battle though, it might look wack because you haven't polished it yet (of course, it depends on the difficulty of the move..)

I didn't mean bustin sumthin like a mill, or an airflare...becuz yea ur right, it wuld look hella sloppy. It wuld be more like a tweak off of sumthin u kno very well. In the heat of a freestyle you inadvertently tweak and modify your techs to suit you better at the time. Thats more or less wut i mean. The general movement of the freestyle tech is sumthin u wuld already be familiar wit, u jus never did it that exact way before...see wut im sayin?

But its not like ur gonna bust out sumthin completely foreign to you and have it look dope....sorry for the lack of clarification haha

i sometimes get a general idea of what im gonna do, but always it nvr goes as planned, but what i do is tht i practiced lots of ways to get into my millz depending on the move i just did so if i wanna pop out a mill during freestyle i know how 2 do it...trust me it helps

but other than tht freestyling is fun as hell especcially when ur in a cypher and the music's blaring *stares of into a distance/drools* lol
