To many newb threads -
11-27-2005, 05:21 PM
To all the people doing it, u know eventually your going to have to battle better people than urselves right?
I know it shouldnt be a massive rush of experienced for new people, but its suppose to be realistic. Having EVERY thread be, come on newbs lets battle, is going to be pointless. You should battle better people, step up to the plate....
Just a suggestion
Dont bite the hand that feeds u, eventually everyone helping u will get annoyed...jesus.
Beginners giving beginners tips without understanding what they are saying is probally one of the worst ways to spread KNOWLEDGE.....which is the key to anything in life.

No matter what race, sex, colour, religion or what we think about each other, we're all here because of one reason; and that's being on a dance floor with MC's spitting it on DJ's beats and at the background a piece of graffiti art...

I think the tournament idea is great. We should have another Online Tourny!

Well here's my 2 cents... like everybody else, when I was a beginner, I was all nervous and shit...and I lived in Bermuda where I assure you there were NO bboys there at the time. Haha back in the day I learned a lot of my basics from this site....
So I understand that you guys that don't live in a major city may have trouble finding people to battle. And, even if you do find people better than you, it can be hard for you to muster up the courage to step to them or even practice with them; I know for me it was.
But, unfortunately, the only way you can become a better battler is by battling...and by that i mean IN PERSON. Do whatever it takes to find people to battle and practice with. Don't worry about losing or making an ass of yourself or whatever. Nobody cares if you're a beginner, or if you lose...everyone starts at the beginning and everyone loses, it's all good.
Battle often in both competitions and cyphers, take every battle as a learning experience (that is, examine WHY you lost or won), stay positive, and trust me, you will get good.
Basically what i'm saying is that in my opinion, online battling isn't really going to do much for you as a bboy. You gotta get out there.
I remember hearin about how this young kid who practices with us stepped to Kmel at Fight Club in NY. Now at that point, this kid had only been dancing like 2 weeks at most. He got roasted. I was like yo man what made you decide to step to Mel? he said, "I don't give a fuck who he is, all I knew is that he was the best in the room and I want to battle the best." THAT's what you call bboy mentality.
Anyway sorry for the long ass post...I thought since these boards helped me out back in the day I should try and contribute.
peace to bboy.org
