based on his musicality. you stayed mostly on tempo i gotta say his set was better than kiks. your top was more simple but you worked with what you got. i loved your stylish step outs. props on landin the freeze. clean up your threadin, everything seemed there. your hat however thou., try not to lose it in a battle particularly cause it's makes you look very weak and hard to recover from unless you plan it and pick it back up within a move followin it. Lolwut?

kiks has more techs and moves, but they were not very polished to me. kiks your top seemed very lackin, where's your style your essence. those moves did not seem like yours. but it's just by my critique i don't mind if you don't take me seriously. very interestin footwork, i noticed the excessive amount of cc's, the freeze at the beginning was interestin but too early in my opinion.

word of advice mike, should cut it around a min cause i tell you were slowly draggin and running out of ideas. near the end of your vid is where you're gonna get judged the hardest so end off strong. if you crash, run with it. i only judged you based on the same amount of time as kiks so it's a min a piece. Seriously? You judge both contenders based on their entire set, not the same amount of time the first or last one did. This makes the scale unbalanced and extremely biased/advantageous to one side over the other.also i'm not sure you took into account the surface you guys were breaking on. floorboards > carpet anyday. carpet might have less impact on your feet, but there's no traction and most likely it make everything look a bit more sloppy. we've all broke bare-feet on carpet but that's only when we practice. I hope you noticed that kiks was wearing shoes on carpet, which probably has more traction than floorboards. And you can't base their sets on the environment their breaking in. Unless it was stupidly advantageous/or disavntageous for them.

i figure alot of ppl are going to disagree with my opinion but just like mines, theres will only be opinions take it or leave it. good job hope to see you guys rockin again. -Xia-Yu-

Yeah really carpet doesnt change up how you break really, if you clean you clean if you aint you aint simple. The environment has nothing to do with it unless the floor is sticky as hell or slippery as fuck. But yeah also really you cant judge by the amount of time either and other than that I was tired and i got more moves I just didnt wanna throw everything.

btw are you even an official ROTY Judge?

Kiks: That intro would be a good burner start if it wasn’t a walk out, set it up, flip, regain my balance, toprock... Its not terrible but.. doing it that way doesn’t look particularly good. You have some chunky moments in your toprock but overall its not to bad, footwork is ok, basicish, freeze in the middle is sloppy and barely held. techs after that are fine but the knee spin is choppy and everything after it til the knee switch is choppy. last tech and ending were strong.

mike: you’re ahead in toprock by mounds not much else to comment on it. kicking sequence was cool but segmented because your transitions don’t look like they’re worked out, swipes was a good showing your early footwork is pretty good... about 1:05 I can hear you start to breath hard and you lose juice... pretty much everything after that was weak, finish was ok. Honestly if you’d stopped around 1min it would have been a much stronger round, remember all you have to do is make a point, you don’t have to throw 2minute rounds to do that... people like Machine can do it in 20seconds.

0:12-:032 literally a 20second set. Absolutely ripped.

Honestly if Mike could have stopped himself earlier this would have gone to him... but you have to understand the ending and later parts of the round are what everyone (judges included) remembers. You can cover early mess ups with later material but you can’t cover late mesups as well especially if you have no juice.

kiks: like i said earlier. probably your best set. just be a bit more loose cuz you still seem kinda stiff or whatever haha. but overall good stuff. like madd said footwork was a bit ok, kinda lacking but you didn't have any real holes in this set

mike: dude you started off a bit above average then you hit the beat for toprock same as kiks. not good. ahaha do something else. and as for you hat coming off yes. that wasn't good. you were telling a capturing story til you just kept saying thread thread i was doing this then i went here. there was no climax til the end when everyone already stopped reading or people left the movie. cut it short.

both did pretty good.. kiks had a nice round with some good flow.
likemike you didn't do bad aswell but your round was too long and
you couldn't keep it up. you also had some stops in your rounds
which also killed the flow..

good battle.. kiks gets my vote

Damn Mike, damn. You really beasted this lol, sadly the judges had to pull the knowledge out on you. He really could of had it too, all that good stuff coulda just been cut short a little bit and put into a more compact set and he woulda won.

Mike, that thread you did while you were laying down, I do that too! Lol. That was sweet, but usually I sit up first, thread my leg around then lay down and thread it into a freeze, but not the one you did. That was some dope ass stuff you did there.

winner kiks.

mike was dancing. enjoying. really enjoying it. but its a bboy battle, not a freestyle cypher in a club.

i tend to do that too. dancing my hearts out, with nothing but just indian steps and isolations from versitility in other hiphop dance styles (hence even yell-0000000000 sometimes comes up to my threads and bites my head off lol!). you've gotta be bboying, to win a bboy battle. if the dancing's good, but the basic usage of bboying fundamentals isnt there, then most other basic poppers should be able to ride better than you. i pin you down for the tops. great groove there thou :x

set's way too long. i was half expecting you to stop mid-way cos it was all cool so far and would have gotten a draw, but your floor-rocks and swims were way too slow, big sign saying you're tired and simply just doing it to win.

kiks' improved well, but i agreed the kick-flip was abit unnecessary. put it into your bboying instead yeah?
